From ancient times to the present, the peasant class has been the largest and largest group in all dynasties, though. Most of them are not highly educated and have little cultivation, but with the spirit of hard-working and hard-working, they develop agriculture with a pair of industrious hands, which satisfies everyone's food and clothing.
But if the peasants can be the leaders of the state, it is a little far-fetched. After all, as a national leader, you need both academic qualifications, courage, and more importantly, leadership. However, in our country, there is really such a peasant who has become the leader of the country, and he is Chen Yonggui, the former vice premier of the State Council.
Chen Yonggui was only a peasant, but he was appreciated by Chairman Mao and became vice premier of the State Council, where he worked diligently all his life, served the people wholeheartedly, and was the parent official of the people. Before his death, he left his last words: "I am a farmer who has never been an ancient person before and has never come after!" What kind of life experience made him say such a thing?

On the first day of the Chinese New Year in 1914, in a small mountain village in Xiyang County, Shanxi Province, there was a baby boy who fell to the ground, and he was Chen Yonggui. Watching him born, the whole family was very happy: this is Chen's eldest grandson! Don't mention how expensive it is!
Out of his vision for the future, Chen's father named his son "Yonggui", hoping that in the future, his son would have a career, lead the whole family out of this poor and backward ravine, and live a good life of food and clothing. However, Chen Yonggui's name was good, but the family's poverty did not improve.
When Chen Yonggui was 6 years old, Xiyang County suffered a major drought that was rare in a hundred years, and almost all the hundreds of acres of land in the village were harvested. Chen Yonggui's family has few people and many people, and life is particularly difficult. When no one wanted a long-term worker and the family did not have enough food to eat, in desperation, Father Chen sold his 9-year-old daughter to a family in a neighboring village as a child bride.
When his sister was taken away, Chen Yonggui cried into tears. However, this "selling women" did not solve the suffering of the Chen family. Later, after the money was spent, Chen's father sold his wife and his infant son and exchanged them for some sorghum noodles.
Since then, Chen Yonggui has remembered and hated his father, and he can't figure it out no matter what, is the family already poor enough to sell his wife and children? He secretly swore that in the future, he must plant a lot of acres of land, so that his mother, sister, and brother can come home!
Perhaps it is precisely because of the tragic experience of childhood, Chen Yonggui who grew up loved labor very much, leaving early and returning late every day, hoeing and fertilizing the ground, just so that he could harvest enough grain in the autumn for the family to eat and drink.
Gradually, Chen Yonggui's name of "expert in farming" spread to every corner of Xiyang County. The village party branch appointed him as the village chief and led the whole village to cultivate land and develop agriculture. In 1948, because of his high ideological consciousness and outstanding work ability, Chen Yonggui officially joined the Communist Party of China and became a glorious party member.
After the founding of New China, he served as a member of the production committee and secretary of the party branch of Dazhai Village, and began to lead the people of Dazhai to make unremitting efforts for a happy life. At that time, it was the time of land reform, and Chen Yonggui, as secretary, played a crucial leading role.

After being allocated land, he and his cadres drew up a detailed labor plan, and effectively divided the land task among every laborer. However, at that time, it also coincided with the outbreak of the War to Resist US Aggression and Aid Korea, and most of the young and middle-aged people in the village signed up to join the army, leaving only middle-aged and elderly men, women and children.
In the face of this situation, Chen Yonggui was not discouraged, but broke the traditional concept of "only men participate in labor" and mobilized women and children in the village to pick up agricultural tools and join the land labor.
As a leader, Chen Yonggui did not have any "official frame" on him, and every day before dawn, he would pick up a hoe and come to the field to work with everyone.
Under the leadership of Chen Yonggui, Dazhai Village has been at the forefront of land reform in just a few years, and the annual grain output can not only meet the needs of the whole village, but also allocate a large part to the state.
People call Dazhai Shengkang "Dazhai Miracle", and Chen Yonggui, who personally created this miracle, has become a good example for the people of the whole country to learn. After Chen Yonggui's deeds spread to Beijing, Chairman Mao was very happy and put forward the loud slogan of "Daqing of Industrial Science, Dazhai of Agricultural Science" and carried forward the "spirit of Chen Yonggui."
After the Spring Festival in 1975, when Chen Yonggui went to Beijing as a deputy to the National People's Congress to report on his work, Chairman Mao said to him: "Comrade Chen Yonggui, I have long heard of your labor deeds, and I intend to appoint you as vice premier of the State Council, hand over the successful experience to the people of the whole country, and help the development of the country's agriculture." ”
Chen Yonggui was flattered and said, "Chairman, I am just an ordinary peasant, I have no culture, I can only cultivate land, and I am not qualified for the post of vice premier at all!" ”
Chairman Mao saw that he was so modest, and his heart appreciated Chen Yonggui even more, and insisted on leaving him as vice premier, so Chen Yonggui stayed in Beijing and became one of the 12 vice premiers of the State Council.

After becoming vice premier, Chen Yonggui did not pamper and be proud, but became more conscientious and dedicated all his energy to the development of agriculture in the motherland.

In the past 5 years, Chen Yonggui has not worked hard for a day, although he is in a high position, he has always put a sentence in his heart: I am the son of a farmer, and I have done practical things for the peasants and the land in my life to make contributions!
In 1980, Chen Yonggui submitted his resignation to Comrade Hua Guofeng because of his advanced age. In September of the same year, the party organization decided to formally dismiss him from his post. After leaving the central government, Chen Yonggui came to work as a consultant on a farm on the outskirts of Beijing. A few years later, he died of a serious illness in Beijing. He died on December 31, 2012 at the age of 7
Before dying, Chen Yonggui on his sickbed said emotionally: "If I can be connected with Chairman Mao in this life, I Chen Yonggui will die and be satisfied." After so many years, I have not disgraced Chairman Mao! Hearing this, the children and colleagues in the ward burst into tears.
Chen Yonggui then said, "As a farmer, I became the vice premier of the State Council, which is something I never expected!" Looking back on my life, it is no exaggeration to say that I am a peasant who has never been in the past and has never come after me, thanks to chairman Mao's leadership! ”
Chen Yonggui's last words did not have flowery words, but the words were full of affection. He loved the land under his feet, loved the harvest of grain, and even more loved the new China that advocated democracy and equality.
As a peasant, he was appreciated by Chairman Mao with his outstanding ability to work and became vice premier of the country. He is the son of a peasant and a good cadre of the people!
