With the adjustment of the mainland's birth policy, the proportion of high-risk pregnant women has increased year by year, and the people's birth concept and birth needs have changed greatly, in order to improve the service capacity of midwifery institutions, meet the childbirth needs of the masses, and further promote the development of maternal and child health and midwifery, Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region Maternal and Child Health Care Hospital successfully held the "Training Course on Appropriate Technology for Promoting Natural Childbirth and the Annual Conference of Midwives Branch of Guangxi Maternal and Child Health Care Association" in Nanning, Guangxi on August 31~September 2, 2023. Nearly 200 people from obstetricians and gynaecologists, midwives, nurses and medical staff engaged in maternal and child health care, teaching and management from health care institutions at all levels attended the training course.

Sun Yan, vice president of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region Maternal and Child Health Care Hospital, was invited to attend the opening ceremony and deliver a speech. She said that with the development of society and the change of medical model, pregnancy and childbirth are no longer a simple natural physiological process, but accompanied by a series of psychological and social problems of mothers, and the fertility rate has declined year by year in recent years. Pregnant women's demand for healthy and diversified safe delivery is more prominent, and new tasks and higher requirements are put forward for the ability and level of midwifery practitioners. Midwives should not only learn and master new knowledge, new technologies, new methods and new concepts for the development of disciplines, but also promote the prosperity and development of the midwifery profession through theoretical innovation and technological innovation. The holding of this workshop can build a communication platform for midwives in the region, gather midwifery forces, standardize the technical operation process of midwifery, improve the clinical thinking ability of midwives, and jointly promote the construction of midwifery profession and the development of maternal and child health.
