How to effectively release and strengthen the rhomboid muscle

1

Palpation of the rhomboid muscle

Points of palpation: Avoid interference with the trapezius muscle

The rhomboid muscle is located deep on the trapezius muscle, and most of its abdomen is covered by the middle and lower trapezius tract, and if the trapezius muscle is involved in the retraction of the shoulder blade, palpation of the rhomboid muscle becomes difficult. Therefore, when the rhomboid muscle is palpated, the downward rotation of the scapula can be induced by the lifting and disengagement movement of the arm, thereby inhibiting the trapezius movement.

Palpation action:

1. The patient lies prone while placing the hand on the lower back, the therapist stands on one side, and the palpated hand is placed between the shoulder blade and the spine.

2. Instruct the patient to leave the lower back with his arm, rotate the shoulder blade down, and make his shoulder blade do adduction exercise to feel the contraction of the rhomboid muscle.

3. Palpate the rhomboid muscle from bottom to top, and pluck the muscle fibers vertically. Repeat the above movements to feel the contours of the entire rhomboid muscle.

4. After accurate positioning, instruct the patient to relax, assess his tension and massage to release.

Rhombic skin severe pain point pine melting

  1. Rhomboid muscle trigger points are usually located near the medial edge of the scapula. It causes pain at the inner edge of the shoulder blade, and the pain may be more pronounced at rest.
  2. Use your back against the wall to find the tender point and continue the gentle rolling massage until the pain point is relieved.
  3. The difficulty of releasing the trigger point is that the location of the pain is not necessarily the source of the problem, and the pain at the medial edge of the scapula is not necessarily caused by the rhomboid muscle, but may also be caused by other muscles, such as serratus superiorus, scalene, levator scapular, etc.

Scapular loosening

Treatment goals: to relieve the adhesions of soft tissues around the shoulder blade and restore the normal mobility of the shoulder blade.

1. The patient is lying on his side, keeping relaxed, and the therapist stands on one side and wraps his hands around the patient's shoulder girdle.

2. Control the shoulder blade to rotate clockwise or counterclockwise, and you can also control it to retract, extend forward, lift up, descend, rotate up or down.

3. It can be operated in different positions, please note that the whole process should be painless.

Rhomboid muscle strengthening training

The high-tension state of the muscles can be shortened or elongated, and the diamond-shaped muscle is often in a state of being elongated. In addition to loosening it in various ways, its functional reinforcement training is equally important.

Rhomboid PNF stretching

1. The stretcher stands or sits with the right hand folded in front of the chest with the elbow bent and the left hand grasping the right upper arm from below.

2. When the left hand is ready to apply a pull, let the right rhomboid muscle hold an isometric contraction for 6 seconds, then relax, and extend the right hand further to the opposite side in front of the chest, further stretching the rhomboid muscle.
