Zhang Yanni was born in Jiujiang, Jiangxi Province, and currently lives and works in Beijing. He holds a master's degree in oil painting at the Central Academy of Fine Arts and is a member of the China Artists Association. Focus on issues such as women's identity, life, history, geopolitics, and individual differences.

Time fragments
My time fragments are lingering fan-shaped skirts, fan-shaped collages. Life is like a canvas.
We can't choose our birth and family, sometimes we lose the direction of life, or even can't do what we like, these situations that cannot be self-sustaining often make people feel anxious.
But at certain moments in the journey of life, either in self-affirmation or self-denial, we will always encounter "ourselves", and the inner force of life is always awakening "self" and pushing "me" to obtain new life.

The French philosopher Henri Louis Bergson considered time to be "stretched." "Stretching is the inseparable flow of the whole, in which each moment is completely different from the previous moment, which has never been seen before, and each moment has a qualitative difference, constantly creating and evolving in the process of 'flow'. The true self is the continuous self, the living flow of the human mind. The stretch is irreversible, so every moment of life is a new state. ”
The tiles of the fan shapes in the work change and develop in the stretch of indescribable time, and the different fan shapes are like the constantly passing time in my life, and the traces left by the fan shape are the confirmation of my life process. Life stretches in a rapid change, and time is presented in a spliced way, moving forward.

"Am I myself?"
Does the world have a real and unchanging "me"?
Does my behavior brought about by "me", some kind of experience produced in a specific time frame, constitute the existence of "myself"? My "state of being" is a unique experience of time in my life based on "me", and this is certain.
The entire work in this series is based on the "lingering, fan-shaped skirt" images in my memory, as well as a sense of identification with women's identity.
The imitation of the previous fan seems to be repetitive, but it constitutes the unique style of the work itself, presenting a changing trajectory and expressing my thoughts on time and life.

Human emotions, thoughts, aspirations, and states are constantly changing. In the process of pasting the paper and canvas, I used my hands to forcefully smooth their contact surfaces, feel its power, and try to let the fan-shaped "little life" covered below reveal its beauty. At the junction between the two slices, the fragmented pattern formed between the interlacing, space and time have a synchronic existence, this is my understanding of time.
I am myself—because "I" have a unique experience of what is happening in the present, because "life" gives meaning to me in the continuous experience and trajectory of time.
Life is short, but thankfully, we have all blossomed ourselves vigorously in the passage of time.
