Feng Jicai's personal writing history can be divided into two stages. The previous stage began in the new period of the 1980s, and he worked as a professional writer for more than ten years. After that, because of "rescuing endangered cultural heritage and traditional villages", he put down his pen to write novels and threw himself into the fields. He believes that most of life is inadvertently accumulated. In the more than twenty years that he has not written novels, the literature in his heart has grown. In conceiving "Life", he first demanded that it must be unique, clarify where the meaning is, and accumulate breath little by little. "Reality and modernity are different in way and aesthetics, two different forces, and I try to screw different forces together, interdependent, mutually causal. The protagonist of the novel, Grandma, is a midwife, and for me, of course, it is not only to create a character with a distinct personality, experienced ups and downs, which is rarely seen in literature, but more importantly, I want to find the life code of the nation in my grandmother. Pregnant in October, writing takes longer to conceive, and the midwife is the writer himself. Both pregnant women and midwives, dual roles, dual identities, need to hold the atmosphere, need to explode. ”
