The first foreshock of this series of earthquakes occurred on August 5, 1822, and the main shock occurred on August 13, 1822, lasting about 40 seconds, and the aftershocks after the main shock lasted for about 2 and a half years, with the largest aftershock occurring on September 5, 1822.
