American catfish Suqian Settle Down

author:Suqian Network

Suqian Network News (reporter Wang Xuefei correspondent Zhang Ying) does not eat catfish, do not know the taste of fish.

In recent years, the "fish of the nobility" native to the Mississippi River in the United States, the American spotted forktail catfish (referred to as the American catfish), has gradually become the "new favorite" on the table of global foodies because of its tender meat, rich nutrition and no fine spines. In Huangdun Town, Hubin New District, there is an American catfish breeding base that is very influential in the country - Jiangsu Suyu Aquatic Products Technology Co., Ltd. Flowing Tank Breeding Catfish Base. On March 13, the reporter went to listen to the story of the American catfish settling down in Suqian.

Stepping into the breeding base, a burst of life came to life. The three newly dug ponds on the south side of the breeding base emit the smell of mud. "This is for stocking fry." Li Guoxiang, technical director of the breeding base, told reporters that the fry grew here to two or three weights, and then moved into the north of the big pond mouth, and grew to more than two kilograms in the big pond mouth before fishing and selling.

The reporter found that next to each breeding pond, there are several huge tanks. It is understood that these jars are used to store fish feed. At present, all breeding ponds in the base are automatically fed.

The reporter interviewed the time to feed the fish. Workers activate the button and the fish feed is transported from large tanks through pipes to the automatic feeder, where it is sprayed out of the automatic feeder and falls into the water. At this time, the originally quiet water surface suddenly became lively. Swarms of large fish swoop out from the bottom of the water to grab fish food, and the scene is spectacular and gratifying.

"Our base has a total of 7 breeding ponds, covering an area of more than 4,000 mu, producing 5,000 tons of American catfish every year, which is countable in the country in terms of both the breeding area and the annual output." Wang Wei, the person in charge of the breeding base, proudly told reporters.

The sea is wide with fish leaping. Wang Wei is in his 30s and is a native of WangguanJi Town, Sucheng District. Born a fisherman and loved to eat fish since childhood, he chose to major in fisheries when he went to college. After graduating from college, he worked hard in this field, and through a few years of small fights, he earned the first pot of gold and accumulated valuable experience.

Subsequently, Wang Wei began to think about how to make the business bigger and stronger. After investigation, he found that Huangdun Town is close to Luoma Lake, with low-lying terrain and abundant water resources, which is very suitable for aquaculture and processing.

Therefore, in 2009, Wang Wei invested in the construction of a fish products deep processing enterprise with an annual processing capacity of 20,000 tons in Huangdun Town, the surimi processing plant. Due to the large number of orders and large processing volumes, every production season, he can "eat" the silver carp in the surrounding areas with a processing plant, so that many farmers can make money.

A few years later, Wang Wei intends to extend the industrial chain and go on aquaculture projects.

What kind of fish is good to keep? Wang Wei inspected for a long time, and finally selected the "noble of the fish" - the American catfish. At that time, many parts of China began to cultivate American catfish in captivity.

Do it big. In 2017, with the help of the Huangdun Town Government, Wang Wei invested nearly 100 million yuan to build a catfish breeding base in the flow tank of Jiangsu Suyu Aquatic Products Technology Co., Ltd. At the same time, he constantly explored new technologies and got on automatic aerators and automatic feeders. Through the installation of push water aeration equipment, a dynamic circulating flow-through ecological breeding model is formed.

In 2019, American expert Professor Jesse Chappell and his party came to Suqian to observe Wang Wei's catfish breeding base. Seeing that the breeding base is so large and the American catfish grow so well here, Jesse Chappell said "OK" in amazement.
