The 2023 FIBA World Cup kicks off on August 25, with 32 nations from around the world competing for the highly sought-after Naismith Trophy and a chance to fight for national glory. The competition will be held in the Philippines, Japan and Indonesia from August 25 to September 10.

The FIBA World Cup will once again showcase the NBA's growing reach worldwide. The past five NBA regular-season MVP winners have been international stars, including Joel Embiid (Cameroon) of the Philadelphia 76ers, Nikola Jokic of the Denver Nuggets (Serbia) and Giannis Antetokounmpo of the Milwaukee Bucks (Greece). In addition, San Antonio Spurs rookie Victor Vembanyama (France) was selected as the top pick in the 2023 draft and is expected to become the next big international player in the NBA.
