In the years of revolutionary war, heroes included not only heroic soldiers who confronted the enemy head-on, but also "lurkers" who were stubborn and determined on the "secret front". Full of boundless loyalty to the party's cause, they played a special role in supporting the battlefield of frontal resistance against the enemy.

Beicaoyuan Underground Transportation Station Exhibition Hall is located in the beautiful scenery of Huancui District Yangting Town Beicao village, here is the "source of apricots in the eyes of many people", in the village every household, in front of the house are planted with apricot trees. In the years of the War of Resistance Against Japan, the shell grass that was calm on the surface was secretly accumulated and surged with huge energy. The Enemy Works Department of the Weihai County CPC Committee has set up enemy work stations here, and groups of underground workers have taken Beicaoyuan as their base camp and written one thrilling legend after another in the history of restoring Weihaiwei.
Among them were Liang Zixiu, the station commander of the enemy's work station, who carried out revolutionary activities under the eyes of the enemy, found out the number of enemy troops and the location of the ammunition depot, formulated combat plans, and provided reliable information for the party organization; Wang Xiquan, a "red undercover" who was wise and courageous and double-minded, and who passed on intelligence and supplies over the mountains and mountains; and Wang Xirong, a female traffic officer who was mistaken by her husband and filed for divorce because of her underground work from time to time, but still adhered to her faith and kept silent. The majestic green mountains of Beicao village bear witness to their fierce loyalty.
Why was the enemy station built in the remote shell grass?
A schematic map of the situation of the War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression in 1944 on display in the exhibition hall gives the answer to the location. As can be seen from the figure, The Shell Grass Pass is located at the foot of the South Mountain of Likou Mountain, surrounded by mountains on three sides, and has a natural geographical advantage, and the enemy's rule is relatively weak.

From the birth of the first anti-Japanese armed force in 1938, the anti-Japanese contingent led by the Weihaiwei Party organization continued to grow, and by June 1940, the anti-Japanese base area had expanded to more than 80 villages in Qiaotou, Gangxi and Caomiaozi. The village of Beicao is located at the junction of the anti-Japanese base area and the Japanese unification area.
Yangting once had a mountain village called Li Jia Yan, but it is no longer found on today's maps. After the Japanese army captured Yangting in 1938, a terrible massacre was carried out here, where all the villagers, young and old, were shot, 117 houses were burned down, and a peaceful small village was never lost. The Li Jia Yan massacre has stimulated a strong sense of resistance and a spirit of struggle among the people of Beicao.
At that time, the Japanese army set up four important puppet army strongholds in Yangting, Maojiakou stronghold, Yangting pseudo-police sub-station, Tuyangkou stronghold and Ludaokou stronghold, which set up many checkpoints for the advancement of armed resistance against Japan.
The attack on Maojiakou stronghold was an important battle in which the anti-Japanese forces in Weihai penetrated deep into the enemy-occupied areas, and it was of great significance. However, in the beginning, the implementation of this plan faced great difficulties - the enemy's weapons, ammunition depot location and battle plan had not yet been understood, and it was very likely to lose if it was attacked.
Liang, the station chief of the Yangting Enemy Work Station, disguised himself as a helper several times and took the opportunity to blend into the stronghold to inquire about the enemy's situation. After several twists and turns, he had gained something, but this harvest made him worried, because there were many people in the puppet army stronghold and the firepower was very abundant. He could only inform the Weihai Independent Battalion, the unit participating in the battle: "We must not engage in frontal combat, we must wait for the opportunity." ”

What is the timing? It turned out that Liang Zixiu had already developed an internal line within the puppet army, named Han Yulin. The task given to him by Liang Zixiu was to make more friends at work, take the opportunity to plot against them, and when Han Yulin had a trusted partner, it was the time to sneak attack.
Han Yulin lived up to his expectations and soon found a powerful helper among his colleagues, named Cong Renzi. On the night of the appointment, they set up a liquor and card game, and gathered most of the people in the stronghold to drink and gamble. At 2:00 a.m. the next day, the puppet soldiers were all poured into a lot of water, and they all fell asleep, and at this time, it was Han Yulin and Cong Renzi's turn to stand guard, and the time had come.
Han Yulin lit a fire rope on the watchtower to signal, and the soldiers of the Independent Battalion, who had already been ambushed around, quickly approached the stronghold as soon as they saw the signal. Cong Renzi opened the gate of the stronghold, cleared the obstacle at the door, and the independent battalion quietly rushed into the stronghold and threw a grenade at the barracks. Before the sleeping puppets could figure out the situation, they became prisoners.
The battle lasted only 10 minutes, with 22 puppet soldiers captured and a large number of guns and ammunition confiscated. The conquest of Maojiakou's stronghold was the first victorious battle fought by the Weihai anti-Japanese armed forces going deep into the enemy-occupied areas.

In addition to penetrating into the enemy's interior and using the convenience of work to collect intelligence from the enemy, the Weihaiwei Party organization also adopted the strategy of "attacking the heart first" and disintegrating the enemy's psychological defense line from the outside with a dense political offensive. In view of the puppet army, enemy workers often secretly post propaganda materials to the Japanese puppet strongholds or entrust the families of the puppet army to carry them to the puppet army; during the festival period, they entrust the relatives of the puppet army to write letters to the puppet army, send a surrender pass, and also register the puppet army's pseudo-subordinates one by one.
In the face of the Japanese and pseudo-Japanese forces, which were several times larger than our own, the Weihaiwei Party organization used only 6 enemy workers' stations and less than 30 enemy workers' forces to cooperate with the people's anti-Japanese armed forces and pull out all 4 puppet army strongholds in Yangting in half a year. From 1944 to 1945 alone, Yangting killed, wounded, and captured more than 900 enemy troops, creating conditions for the Weihai War of Resistance to turn into a strategic counteroffensive.
Once a great suffering, now it is full of spirit. We will always remember the warriors on these "secret fronts", and their stories are told again and again in the exhibition hall of the underground traffic station of Beicaotuo. Walking out of the exhibition hall, many visitors faced the green mountains, remembering the meditation and commemorating the eternal and immortal heroic souls.

Wang Xiquan's eldest son, recalling his father's experience, said:
"He always believes in the organization, always believes in the party"
I knew my dad was an underground worker in 1989, when my dad was 69 and I was 41. Before that, my dad had never revealed his identity.
When I was a child, the living conditions at home were very bitter, and I often ate the last meal without eating. What is even more uncomfortable than this is the eyes of the people in the village who look at our family, and everyone says that my father was a puppet army for two years during the War of Resistance and looked down on our family, but in fact, he was a veritable "red undercover" who broke into the enemy army to collect intelligence.
My father was a hard-working man, in the past, when he was in the production team, everyone chose him to be the captain, he got up early every day and was greedy, and he worked harder than anyone. But he had a back injury, and it hurt when he worked too much. Later he told me that the back injury was left over from when he had sent information before.
At that time, my father hid the information in a cotton hat and wanted to give it to the organization. On the way, I encountered a Japanese army body search, did not find anything, but used the butt of the gun to smash my father's waist, and my father fell directly to the ground in pain. This smash left my father with decades of illness, but all he thought about at the time was how to send the intelligence safely, and when the Japanese army left, he gritted his teeth and limped to the destination.
Underground traffic officers are also tasked with delivering food to intelligence stations. At 1:00 a.m., my father carried fifty kilograms of grain on his back, touched the black over the mountains and mountains, and walked more than forty miles from Shell Grass To the city. In those years, my father sent five thousand catties of grain to the intelligence station and ran hundreds of times. He never cried out bitterness, but only said: "For the sake of the revolution, regardless of life and death, do not talk about remuneration." ”
In 1968, I wanted to join the army after graduating from junior high school, but because my father had been a puppet army, I failed to pass the political trial. The big character newspaper in the village also called my father a traitor. Sometimes I think in my heart, how can I put on such a father? Later I learned that he was an amazing underground worker.
In 1989, four people came to visit my dad at home. These four people were named Sun Zhu, Zhou Ye, Bai Junfu, and Cong Yu'an, and they were comrades of my father's former underground work. At this meeting, they found that my father's undercover identity had not been confirmed, and the treatment he deserved had not been obtained, but instead carried the name of a traitor. Everyone was very sad and wrote proof materials for my father together. However, for various reasons, there has been no result.
And so it went on for more than a decade. In 2005, my father came to me and said, "I can't just wear the hat of a puppet army and leave a stain on future generations." "I went to the relevant departments to explain the situation, and the staff also attached great importance to it, and contacted my father's former superior Liang Self-Repair." We called and asked him if he knew Wang Xiquan of Beicao, and he said, "Why don't you know?" Wang Xiquan is the downline of my development that year! "My father and I took a bus to Hangzhou to visit Uncle Liang, and as soon as the two of us met, my father burst into tears.
The following year, after a thorough investigation and verification, my father was finally named. The relevant departments made a confirmation of "Wang Xiquan's engagement in enemy industry work before the founding of New China." My dad couldn't read, but he looked at the proof and wiped his tears over and over again. The first time he was so happy to see him, this moment, he had waited for most of his life. As underground workers, these fighters with special missions would rather endure the insults of "traitors" and "traitors", but also strictly abide by organizational discipline and resolutely do not reveal their true identities. Many underground workers were killed by the enemy before the revolution was successful, some survived but failed to regain their reputation until death, and some did not even leave their names - they burned their small bodies like shell grass, forming a burning trend, pushing the revolution to the other side of victory.
For the sake of national liberation and national independence, they are not afraid to sacrifice and go forward to succeed each other, engraving "feelings of family and country" and "absolute loyalty" on the hot soil of red Jiaodong; they have left behind the most precious spiritual wealth, inspired the vast number of party members and cadres, inherited the red gene, remembered the original mission, continued the spiritual blood of the communists, and worked harder for the happy life of the masses of the people.
With the passage of time, the smoke of the revolutionary war has long since dissipated, and most of these fighters have left us, but this land is shining because of them, and the city is also brave because of them. Time will always remember these warriors, their firm revolutionary will make future generations always admire, and their sincere heart to serve the country has been engraved by the times and passed down from generation to generation.
