Author: Jacob Amigoni (c. 1685 – January 1752), an Italian painter of the late Baroque or Rococo period, began his career in Venice but traveled and prolificly throughout Europe, where his luxurious portraits were very popular.

He was born in Naples. Amigoni originally painted mythological and religious scenes; But as his patrons expanded north, he began to create many living room works depicting sensual laziness or gods in games. His style influenced Giuseppe Nogari. His students included Charles Joseph Philippat, Michelangelo Molet, Pietro Antonio Novelli, Joseph Wagner and Antonio Zucchi.

In 1747, encouraged by Farinelli, he left Italy for Madrid, where he held court positions. He became court painter to Ferdinand VI of Spain and president of the Royal Academy of San Fernando. #ArtOil Painting Appreciation ##每日一图#
