Ben began learning to drums at the age of 9, also plays piano and guitar, was a member of the school choir in elementary school, and played drummer in the school's jazz ensemble in high school. In 2004, Ben joined the group Hyrise, and auditioned for the Eurovision Song Contest with the group, winning second place. After the band disbanded, Ben turned his attention to acting.
