Call of London: Two years until the 2026 ITTF Centennial Celebration and World Team Table Tennis Championships Final!
From 1 May to 10 May 2026, the event will be held at the famous Wembley Vower Stadium, attracting thousands of spectators and bringing together the world's top table tennis players. This event marks the return of the ITTF and World Championships to their birthplace of London after exactly 100 years.
The call for London to return to the World Championships has been well received, having last hosted the event in 1954. The confirmation of the date is an important milestone in the preparations for this extraordinary event, and preparations are being accelerated.
How has it progressed so far?
In August last year, England won the right to host the top tournament after a spectacular bid presentation at the ITTF Annual General Meeting.
Currently, the Tournament Delivery Committee for the 2026 ITTF World Team Table Tennis Championships Finals is being formed, and Ed Warner has been appointed as the chairman of the committee.
In order to support the 2026 event industry project and its impact on the capital's community, a London organising group has been formed. In addition, the 2026 ITTF World Team Table Tennis Championships Finals will be supported by British Sport and the Greater London Borough.
What's next?
Going forward, all partners and stakeholders will begin to work closely together as the Event Delivery Committee is about to be finalized.
With the visionary goal of creating a lasting legacy beyond the event itself, London aims to ignite a passion for table tennis and inspire future generations.
