According to preliminary statistics, the number of new active ingredients in descending order is: 36 imidacloprid, 27 thiamethoxam, 21 roconomitrile, 10 pentazole, 9 difenoconazole, 9 formeibi, 8 methotoxin, 5 butylthioxam, 4 azoxystrobin, 4 oxamelif, 4 silamylthiamide, 3 fipronil, 3 sterilizazole, 3 imidifera and thiosbian, 2 furianidin, 2 chlorpyrifos, etc. It can be seen that among the new products, imidacloprid, thiamethoxam and robacteronitrile are still the key active ingredients. On the whole, the number of seed treatment agent registrations is increasing year by year, especially some patented products, but mainly compound preparations. At present, China has the largest number of patent applications for pesticide applications related to seed treatment technology including sterilization, insecticidal and plant nutrition, in addition, microbial nematicides in seed treatment agents are becoming a hot research direction, and the new registration also includes nematicide products that are all suspended seed coatings. In recent years, as more pesticides have been slowly phased out or restricted due to toxicity, natural nematicides provide a safer and more effective solution for crop protection. Observe the bionematicide products launched by multinational companies that have grown rapidly in the global seed treatment field in recent years. Multinational companies actively deploy Cortiva in the field of bionematicides: In 2019, Corteva entered into an exclusive sales agreement with Stoller for the bionematicide Rizotec. The product reduces the number of nematode eggs and female nematodes in sugarcane fields, marking Cortiva's first foray into the bionematicide market. In 2022, Corteva launched Lumialzam in Brazil, the company's first bionematicide for seed treatment in Brazil. Lumialza contains Bacillus amylbacterium (strain PTA-4838), a naturally occurring organism that colonizes crop roots to form a biological barrier against a variety of harmful nematodes. BASF: In 2019, Nufam announced the acquisition of Trunemco™, BASF's seed treatment nematode management solution, the first patented formulation of a combination of microorganisms and biochemicals. Trunemco is a seed treatment product where the biochemicals in the active ingredients activate the natural defense systems of soybeans, corn and cotton to better control nematodes. The microorganisms in the active ingredients promote root health and enhance the vitality of seedlings. The results of field trials showed that the crop yielded higher and was less susceptible to nematode infestation after using the product. In 2021, BASF announced the launch of its first bionematicide in Brazil, trade name Votivo Prime, based on Bacillus strongensis, which helps promote root growth and minimize stress on rice, soybeans, corn, wheat and cotton. Sumitomo Chemical: In 2021, Sumitomo Chemical launched Aveo (Bacillus amylis) seed treatment Aveo (Bacillus amylis, PTA-4838 strain), a new biological solution for nematode control in Brazil. Aveo ensures "efficiency and safety in the control of nematodes". By colonizing the roots of plants, the strains form a biological barrier that prevents nematodes from invading the roots. Nematodes are one of the main problems affecting soybean yields in all regions of Brazil, and Aveo has a broad-spectrum preventive and long-lasting seed treatment that can increase soybean yields by about 5%. IHARA: In 2023, IHARA announced in Brazil the launch of its first bionematicide TRUNEMCO, formulated with Bacillus amyloides MBI600, a novel product that IHARA has added to its portfolio. This bionematicide has an innovative suspension seed coating compatible with other products that offers higher utility and crop yields due to the low dosage applied. TRUNEMCO is an innovative formulation selected and developed to protect against nematodes and provide better root protection for crop growth. UPL: In 2023, UPL launched a new microbial nematicide Nimaxxa, made from three bacteria: Bacillus subtilis strain CH4000, Bacillus paralicheniform strain CH0273 and CH2970. Nimaxxa generates multiple mechanisms of action through synergistic action with bacteria, containing two species of Bacillus that are highly competitive in soil and colonize crop roots, feeding on root exudates. ............................................................
