Xiong Boqi: Also known as Guanghan, Rongsheng, Jinlisheng, Tianfumin. The name of the three Yan rooms, do not sign the Jade Leixuan, Lingjuan Lu, Xingfeng Building. A native of Jingyan County, Sichuan. Born in Chengdu in March 1944, he settled in Beijing in July 1955. He is a national first-class artist and a director of the second, third, fourth and fifth terms of the Chinese Calligraphers Association. He is currently the deputy director of the Seal Engraving Professional Committee of the China Book Association. He specializes in seal engraving, calligraphy, freehand flowers and poetry. His works have been exhibited in previous national calligraphy and seal engraving exhibitions and other major domestic and international exhibitions, and have served as judges for many times. He has held many solo exhibitions at home and abroad, published several publications and several papers, and his works have been collected by many institutions at home and abroad. In December 2014, he won the Art Award of the 5th Chinese Calligraphy Lanting Award.
Xiong Boqi began to learn painting as a teenager. Regarding the relationship between painting, calligraphy and seal carving, he said: "Although the seal carving is completed by the sword stone, its writing still needs pen and ink, so the ancients had the saying that 'printing from the book', and Zhao Zhiqian also had a verse cloud on seal carving: 'The ancients had pens and especially ink, but today's people have swords and stones.'" The tools used in painting and calligraphy in the pen and ink tradition are brushes.
