Speaking of the "family general" of the Song Dynasty, I believe that in addition to the "Yue family general", the most talked about must be the "Yang family general". The "Yang Family General" was a famous military family that defended northern Xinjiang and resisted the Liao in the early years of the Northern Song Dynasty. Its story has been widely circulated since the middle of the Northern Song Dynasty, and to this day, it is still an important theme of film and television. The origin of the "Yang Family General" is the well-known Yang Ye.

Volume IX of the "Continuation of Zizhi TongjianChang" (Song Taizu Kaibao First Year) Jiye's real name is Heavy Gui, surnamed Yang", and was later given a name by the Ancestors of the Northern Han Dynasty, so Yang Ye was aliased Liu Jiye. Yang Ye has had the ambition to make meritorious contributions since childhood. Once, the young Yang Ye went out hunting and harvested a lot, so he said to his entourage with great spirits: "After I become a general in the future, I will fight with soldiers, just like when I hunt now, I use falcon hounds to chase pheasants and rabbits. This "fairy tale" is believed to be that no one is speaking, but I do not know that in the next few years, it will become a slur.

The Biography of Yang Ye, the Thirty-first Chronicle of song and Liechuan, records: "(Yang Ye) Weak Crown Liu Chong, for the defense of the command envoy." The "weak crown", that is, about twenty years old, is just an adult in today's parlance. Young Yang Ye held such a key position, not only did not have "stage fright", but was particularly excited. According to the "History of Song", Yang Ye was known for his bravery and good fighting. Later, because of his repeated military achievements, he was promoted to Jianxiong Army Jiedushi. The so-called hero out of the youth, Yang Ye everywhere he went, invincible, invincible, so the People of the Northern Han Dynasty called him "invincible". The saying of "invincible" seems to be a bit exaggerated, but it is indeed a true record of the "History of Song", and the later Qing Dynasty Jiang Tingmingxiu's "Baodezhou Zhi" also has this statement - "Song Yang ye good war, number Yang invincible".

Zhao Kuangyin, who was originally the former governor of the Later Zhou Dynasty, launched the Chen Qiao Mutiny, usurped the Power of Later Zhou, and established the Song Dynasty. After Zhao Kuangyin's death, his brother Zhao Guangyi succeeded to the throne. In the first month of the third year of the Taiping Revival (979), Zhao Guangyi sent the general Pan Mei as a vanguard to lead an army north to besiege Taiyuan, the capital of the Northern Han Dynasty. In February, Zhao Guangyi personally marched and vowed to "destroy the Han" in one fell swoop.

At that time, Liu Jiyuan, the lord of the Northern Han Dynasty, appealed to the "mother state" Khitan for help, but was immediately destroyed by the Song general Guo Jin at ShilingGuan (石嶙關, northeast of present-day Yangqu County, Shanxi). The Liao general Yelü was killed in battle, and the Khitan lost more than 10,000 troops. At this moment, there were no reinforcements outside the Northern Han Dynasty and no fighting spirit inside, so they had to surrender to Zhao Guangyi.

For Zhao Guangyi, the "Northern Han" was just a thing in his pocket, which could be obtained at any time; on the contrary, he had Yang Ye in his heart. According to the "History of Song", "Emperor Taizong marched on Taiyuan, heard its name, tasted and bought it", Zhao Guangyi heard of Yang Yesheng's fame, and tried to bribe him in the past, but he did not get the point. Therefore, after the surrender of the Northern Han Dynasty, Zhao Guangyi's most urgent thing to do was to send someone to persuade Yang Ye to surrender.

The loyal Yang Ye, at first, still refused to surrender. However, the Northern Han Dynasty had already perished, and Zhao Guangyi was also sincere in fist fighting, so Yang Ye "prayed again in the north", and after completing the etiquette for the Northern Han, "Shi Jia" met Zhao Guangyi.

When Zhao Guangyi received Yang Ye, he was naturally overjoyed, and not only comforted him, but also allowed him to restore his original surname (in the early years, Liu Chong gave Yang Ye the "Surname of Liu Shiguo") and conferred the title of "Right Leading Wei Da general" (Note: "Continuation of the Zhizhi Tong Jianchang Compilation" records that Zhao Guangyi awarded Yang Ye the "Left Leading Wei Da general"). After returning to Beijing, he also taught Yang Ye the "History of Zhengzhou Assassination". Since then, the border of northern Xinjiang has been guarded by the "Yang Invincible" town that made the Liao people feel frightened.

There is still a lot of history about Yang Ye, and we have the opportunity to talk about it again!
