Since 2009, Jingyuan County has been a demonstration county of the Lanzhou Comprehensive Experimental Station of the National Bulk Freshwater Fish Industry Technology System, and undertakes various experimental and demonstration tasks issued by the Lanzhou Comprehensive Experimental Station every year.

According to the requirements of the 2023 construction task mandate of Jingyuan Demonstration County of Lanzhou Comprehensive Experimental Station, the Jingyuan County Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Technical Service Center determined that the research and demonstration of new varieties of bulk freshwater fish varieties and supporting technologies for good laws in 2023 will be carried out in Limingshan Aquaculture Farm in Jinshan Village, Beiwan Town and Bao Zhengnan Aquaculture Farm in Zhongbao Village, Beiwan Town, respectively.

At 6:00 p.m. on June 4, under the guidance of fishery technicians from the Jingyuan County Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Technical Service Center, Li Mingshan Aquaculture Farm introduced 62.5 kg of bluefish fingerlings from Chongqing (size 64/kg, about 4000, 60 yuan/kg), and at the same time put 12.5 kg of mixed fingerlings of silver carp and white tarp (size 160/kg, about 2000, 40 yuan/kg); At 10:00 p.m., Bao Zhengnan Aquaculture Farm introduced 51.5 kg of blue fish fingerlings from Chongqing (size 64/kg, about 3296, 60 yuan/kg). The blue fish fingerlings, tarpon and white carp fingerlings released this time are all healthy and swimming.

The blue fish (Mylopharyngodon piceus) is a genus of fish in the family Cyprinidae. The body length can reach 145 cm. The body length is 3.3~4.1 times the body height, 3.5~4.4 times the head length, the body is stout, nearly cylindrical, the abdomen is round, and there is no ventral edge. The dorsal fin is located above the ventral fin, has no hard spines, and the outer margin is straight. The body is bluish grey , the back is darker , the belly is greyish white , and the fins are black. The individual is large, up to more than 70 kg. Thick meat, fatty, delicious taste, less intermuscular spines, easy to eat, rich nutritional value, per 100g of blue fish meat contains 19.5g of protein, 0.2g of fat, and contains a large number of vitamins needed by the human body, is the best meat quality and the highest nutritional value of the four large fish. Blue fish contains trace elements such as zinc and selenium, containing sugar, multivitamins, zinc, calcium, phosphorus, iron, magnesium and other minerals, which is the best product in freshwater fish.

Blue fish is one of the four traditional freshwater aquaculture fish in China and plays an important role in the mainland freshwater fish aquaculture industry. Blue carp is the fastest growing among the four large fish, the highest price, favored by farmers and consumers, and has high economic value.

It is believed that through the introduction of experimental demonstration and promotion, blue fish will become a key species in Jingyuan's aquaculture industry, providing the broad masses of people with a more beautiful, newer and fresher aquatic taste.
