Second brush "Spider-Man: Across the Universe"! Can it compare to Rick and Morty?

Last night, I went to the second brush of "Spider-Man: Across the Universe", and afterwards found that there was still a lot to say: some were already thought of when I watched it for the first time, but I didn't have time to mention it in the film review last week, and some of them were the experience after communicating and discussing with people in recent days, and the new findings of this second brush.

This seems to have become a sort of "standard action" for me – if I can N brush a movie and write two or more articles in a row, then I must love it.

OK, let's start the text, still think of where to write.

1. This animated series trilogy is all-encompassing and self-contained, and there are many Easter eggs in "Across the Universe" that pay tribute to the previous "Parallel Universe".

For example, when Miles returned to the school dormitory at the beginning, he deliberately stopped at the edge of the wall for a while, waiting for a group of pigeons to fly over before moving forward, obviously paying tribute to the scene in the previous Miles who was just born and was made busy by the pigeons; For example, when his father Jefferson was chasing Blob and Spider-Man, he also wanted to jump into the spotted hole, but then he honestly went down the stairs, which is the same high-quality laugh as the upper Miles did not dare to jump off the building.

2, the Spider Alliance said that it "only absorbs elites", in fact, except for the "outlier" of Miles, all the Spider-Man who can be contacted have joined...

When Miles escaped from the Spider Alliance before the end, there was indeed a large number of Spider-Man releasing water, and its scale was so large that it was called "releasing the sea".

Gwen, Buddhist Peter and a few other "not top" guys will not say, to give three other examples: one is the 1967 TV animated version of Spider-Man, he swung in front of Miles and did nothing, it was completely bright and playing a treasure; Spider Horse and Spider Rider are more like coming to help Miles, first solving a Spider-Man who pounced from the left for him, and after Spider Rider "lost" to Miles, who did not speak of martial virtue, in the pistol duel, Spider Horse also cooperated to send a ride; Byte Spider-Man is the most obvious, as long as she restarts the teleporter in time, Miles can't run away, but she finally chooses to let Miles leave.

In addition, the punk Spider-Man Hobby was already making small movements and preparing to run away long before going to meet Miguel, and Miles was able to discharge and break the isolation cover, and it is estimated that there was Hobby's help behind it (see the scene where Hobby breaks the shield in universe 50101).

It is true that some Spider-Man obeyed Miguel to catch Miles, but there are also many Spider-Men who can't bear to "kill Miles", I don't believe that hundreds of Spider-Men have all hit the plan to move the tiger away from the mountain, and a large number of people have made it clear that they are in Yang and Yin.

3. Voices such as "form is greater than content" and "the picture is noisy and affects the plot" are still endless... Admittedly, "Across the Universe" is not as complete and natural as "Parallel Universe" in terms of story fluency, but it is surpassing in other aspects.

The binary opposition of "form VS content" and "picture vs plot" is not reasonable at all, you need to know that form is originally part of the content, and the audiovisual language such as pictures will also act on the narrative, and how the effect is different from the wisdom, but any attempt and progress is not easy, which is why I have a more fiery liking for films such as "Gemini Killer" and "Avatar: The Way of Water" than ordinary people.

Returning to "Across the Universe", it has completely flown in the form of creation, and we can see the brushstrokes of cartoonists using markers, paint brushes, pen ink, pencils and other forms of drawing.

The most typical is the villain spot, based on the introduction of Kobe Bryant Burst in the first film, this time the film pushes the visual concept to a higher level.

The spots are covered with black hole spots, and at first glance they look like a guy in a white stretch tights, covered with polka polka dots, which itself is an anomaly in the colorful "Universe".

But in reality, Blob has been trying to fill these holes, which contain unlimited potential and become a source of his constant loss and power - he and Miles follow a similar path, but in opposite directions.

In the end, the style of painting of the spots has gone to an indescribable tone such as abstract sketching, and it is a strong strength in itself to make those pictures not contradict.

4. The book continues with a point. After watching "Across the Universe" last weekend, a friend said that the film was not as amazing as expected, because there was "Rick and Morty" in front of it, parallel universes, spider alliances and whatnot, compared to "Rui City" is also sparse and ordinary.

It's an interesting and correct statement, but it didn't take me long to figure it out because there wasn't much comparison.

When it comes to "brain holes", this Spider-Man series of movies is certainly not comparable to "Rick and Morty", the latter's design concept of parallel universes and the display of the social structure of Ruicheng are top-notch, both in breadth and depth are outstanding... But it is destined to be a niche animated work.

In contrast, the concept and depth of "Across the Universe" are not so complicated, but it is more universal and popular, and it is a masterpiece that can be seen and understood by more audiences.

It's not difficult to figure this out, I just recalled my first feeling when watching the two works: when I watched "Across the Universe", I didn't think about "Rick and Morty" at all, and I didn't think about whether the film could be more brain-burning, because just so many dazzling Spider-Man and Easter eggs made me unable to distract; Similarly, when watching "Rick and Morty", I never had the idea of "if only the picture were more detailed / the style of painting was more varied", because the production cost was there, not to mention the brain hole and thinking in it were enough to amaze me.

Of course, I can't help but say more: the picture level of "Across the Universe" is not something that can be easily smashed by throwing money...

5. Let's talk about the story again.

Compared to the picture performance, the plot of "Across the Universe" is really not particularly amazing, but I insist that the film tells a good story.

Taking the family line as an example, many people don't like it, thinking that it is too old-fashioned and dull, but ignore that this is the basis of the entire Myers story line.

For example, the interaction between Spider-Man and Officer Morales, in fact, this is an additional communication between Miles and his father Jefferson under another asymmetrical condition, we often only see Miles' adolescent troubles, but ignore the dilemma of Jefferson as an older generation trying to communicate with children and limited by his father's "majestic" identity, intergenerational communication barriers, usually exist in both directions.

PS: Jefferson's promotion to senior police inspector is probably related to the fact that his son gave him a lot of credit, and cause and effect are everywhere.

There is also Gwen's independent character line, and Gwen and Miles' emotional line.

One more mention of Gwen's relationship with Hobby, Hobby, as a punk Spider-Man, is the kind of cool boy who is born to be in the spotlight, most girls are easily obsessed with him, Gwen should not live with him, but can't help but get close to him (the two of them may also be secretly tinkering with something that upsets Miguel), Hobby will also make fun of Gwen about this...

The feeling of "idol" and "sweetheart" is completely different. In contrast, Gwen is much more tangled, twisted, and careful when facing Miles, and combined with her reluctance to make friends after Peter's death, it is self-evident who is more important to her.

Miles also has a similar affection to Gwen... As a result, the two contributed the most romantic set of shots in "Across the Universe":

Sitting upside down, overlooking the city, tell each other's affection across time and space.

The line of the two also secretly fits the essence of the entire film.

- Gwen Stacy in every universe is attracted to Spider-Man.

- But in every universe, they don't end well.

- There are exceptions to everything, aren't they?

The special thing about "Across the Universe" is that it smooths out each Spider-Man's personality, replaces it with universal commonalities, and finally returns to unique personalities and coexists with their commonalities.

You can simply understand it as "my life depends on me", but its layering and richness are much more mellow.

Gwen, as one of the two protagonists, has drawn a path for the next "Beyond the Universe" Miles in advance: after the father George learned that his daughter was Spider-Woman, there was a huge conflict between his love for Gwen and his sense of mission to the police, and finally he gave up his career ideals because his daughter came first - which means that George invisibly demolished the hidden thunder that he must sacrifice.

Fate is not preordained, it is shaped by every choice of all parties, even Spider-Man's fate.

6, at the end of the film, Gwen has pulled up a team to assist Miles, Buddhist master Peter, Penny Parker, Shadow Spider-Man, Spider-Man and other 4 old friends in the previous part, needless to say, in addition to punk spider Hobie, Indian spider Pavita, byte Spider-Man and other 3 people, Jessica Drew who has been following Miguel is estimated to turn over after seeing Gwen's performance...

I don't think Miguel is deliberately hiding the truth and wants all Spider-Man to taste the pain of losing a loved one, and I don't think he is a villain who is obsessed with maintaining stability, and what Miguel did was, of course, the right thing to do.

But the behavior of Myers, Gwen and others is also correct - there are not so many good and evil battles in this world, often between right and right.

Expect this story to have a more exciting ending.
