"Today I received a repayment of 10,000 yuan from Song Yingjie." After the death of "post-90s" pharmacist Song Yingjie, the family went to his unit dormitory to clean up the relics and pulled out a "receipt" from the notebook. This is what he wrote down during the Spring Festival last year when he returned some of the arrears to his parents.

Like many young people, Song Yingjie is not financially rich and needs to work hard to repay the arrears little by little. No one expected that in this war "epidemic", Song Yingjie, who was in his youth, was frozen at the age of 28.

In the early morning of February 3, Song Yingjie, a pharmacist at the Maji Health Center in Donghu Town, Hengshan County, Hengyang City, Hunan Province, completed the handover of epidemic prevention and control duty at the entrance and exit of Xuguang Expressway East Lake, and died suddenly after returning to the dormitory, due to the death of the line of duty.

"Carrying a black backpack, sunny and cheerful." This is the first impression that Song Yingjie gave when he first worked. In April 2016, after graduating with a bachelor's degree in pharmacy, he entered the Maji Health Center. Song Yingjie's family lives on the edge of the county seat, and Donghu Town is the most remote township in Hengshan County, with a distance of more than 40 kilometers between the two places. Every time he went to work, he had to take a passenger shuttle bus from the county seat to Nanyue Town, then cross Nanyue Mountain, and carpool with others to reach the health center, which took nearly 2 hours.

In the township health center far away from the county seat, it is not easy for foreign college students to stay at ease. The 8 undergraduate students who were in the same batch as Song Yingjie were not long after they were successively admitted and transferred upwards, and only three or four people were left.

His family repeatedly advised him that the unit was so far away and it was too inconvenient, so let's go back to the city. Song Yingjie had the idea of leaving, and also had the opportunity to go to a higher-level hospital, but the final choice was to "stay". "Working in the health center is happy, the leadership is valued, the relationship between colleagues is harmonious, and you can do something." Song Yingjie explained this to his family.

In order to solve the problem of commuting inconvenience, Song Yingjie specially bought a car with a total price of more than 100,000 yuan. With a low salary, he did not have much savings, so he borrowed 106,400 yuan from his parents. Song Yingjie insisted on laying down an "IOU" and repaid it in installments year by year.

Song Yingjie, who is determined to take root in the township, shows diligence in his work, returning to the city only once or twice a month, and treating the health center as a "home". In 2017, Song Yingjie successfully obtained the pharmacist qualification certificate and later served as the deputy leader of the pharmacy team of the health center. In July 2019, he submitted his application to join the party.

Last year, Ma Ji Health Center was rated as an advanced unit in pharmaceutical administration work in Hengshan County, and Song Yingjie was rated as an advanced individual in the health center. "Advanced individuals are democratically voted by all staff and workers, and Song Yingjie was elected with a high vote." Zhao Dexiong, president of the Maji Health Center, said.

On January 22, 2020, the first suspected case of new crown pneumonia appeared in the jurisdiction of Maji Health Center, and the hospital quickly launched an emergency plan. Song Yingjie, a pharmacist, was originally arranged to go home for a break. Chinese New Year's Eve, Zhao Dexiong's phone rang, and it was Song Yingjie who called from home. Song Yingjie said that the hospital was not manpowered enough, and he applied to go to the front line of the fight against the epidemic as soon as possible.

On the first day of the first lunar month, Song Yingjie, who took the initiative to invite Miao, rushed back to the township and went to the entrance and exit of the East Lake of xuguang expressway with his colleagues. The four medical staff at the duty station are in a group, and their main work is to measure body temperature, inquire and investigate, and publicize epidemic prevention knowledge. Colleague Zhu Hongzheng said that the highway intersection is very cold, but Song Yingjie never complains bitterly, always letting older colleagues rest more.

In the early morning of February 3, after the night shift from 4 p.m. to 12 p.m. on the 2nd, Song Yingjie returned to the dormitory of the health center and took off his protective equipment and white coat. He went to a colleague who lived next door, took 3 buckets of instant noodles, and went back to his room to rest. By dawn, Song Yingjie never got up again.

After Song Yingjie's unfortunate death, his family came to his dormitory and saw a bed and a table, simple items, the most common is "Pharmacology" and other books, filled with a box. The "receipt" clipped in the notebook was last year, and before the Spring Festival this year, he returned a second sum of 10,000 yuan to his parents.

As agreed on the IOU, he will pay off all principal and interest on July 31, 2028. However, this "IOU" can never be cashed. The spiritual "legacy" he left behind was rich and heavy.

In February, the relevant departments of Hengyang City posthumously awarded Song Yingjie the titles of "Hengyang May Day Labor Medal" and "Hengyang Youth May Fourth Medal". On March 3, the Hunan Provincial Committee of the Communist Youth League posthumously awarded Song Yingjie the title of "Outstanding Member of the Communist Youth League of Hunan Province".
