40-year-old Joaquin vs 39-year-old Diego López, the two oldest players in La Liga this weekend will meet

According to the World Sports Newspaper, in this weekend's Real Betis game against Espanyol, two of La Liga's oldest players, Joaquin and Diego López, will meet.

Betis captain Joaquín, 40, is currently the oldest player in La Liga, while 39-year-old Espanyol goalkeeper Diego López is the second-oldest player in La Liga.

Joaquin made His Betis debut on 26 August 2001 when coach Juan de Ramos made his debut against Malaga. 14 days later, Joaquin scored his la Liga debut and the opponent he scored was Betis' opponent Espanyol this weekend.

Since then, Joaquin has made 583 appearances in La Liga, including 368 for Betis, 158 for Valencia and 57 for Malaga, contributing 106 goals and 95 assists. In addition, he made 52 appearances for the Spanish national team, participating in the 2002 World Cup in South Korea and Japan and the 2004 European Championship in Portugal.
