From October 13 to 14, Pan Yue, deputy director of the United Front Work Department of the CPC Central Committee and director of the Overseas Chinese Affairs Office of the State Council, and his party visited Shantou to deeply study and implement the spirit of the important instructions of General Secretary Xi Jinping's important speech on inspecting Guangdong and Shantou, and to investigate the work of overseas Chinese affairs in our city.

On the 14th, at the Overseas Chinese Cultural Relics Museum, Pan Yue and his party listened to a briefing on the history of overseas Chinese and the protection and utilization of overseas Chinese, revisited the general secretary's earnest teachings, and demanded that the role of overseas Chinese culture in the exchange of overseas Chinese be better brought into play, and the stories of overseas Chinese and China should be told well. At the Shantou Municipal Cultural Center (Shantou Overseas Chinese Cultural Exchange Base), Pan Yue and his party visited and learned about The Intangible Cultural Heritage Projects such as Daliao Inlaid Porcelain, Chaozhou Wood Carving, and Paper-cutting (Shantou), and from time to time exchanged views with many Shantou non-hereditary inheritors who were present, and urged these intangible cultural heritage projects to be both treasures of Shantou and treasures of the country, and to better protect and inherit them. Pan Yue and his entourage also visited and inspected the overseas Chinese education live broadcast base in the Overseas Chinese Pilot Zone.

During their stay in Shantou, Pan Yue and his entourage held discussions and exchanges with representatives of overseas Chinese circles of Chao nationality.
