American Travel Notes (33): Bighorn Sheep National Forest, expect a chance encounter with bighorn sheep

author:Morning Dawn of America

After lunch, we leave the small town of Kodi, showing the vicissitudes of the west. Gradually, the terrain was no longer flat, and we began to climb the mountain and entered the Bighorn National Forest, also known as the Big Cape National Forest and Bighorn National Forest.

Located in northern Wyoming, the Bighorn Sheep National Forest Park covers an area of more than 4,500 square kilometers (1.1 × 106 acres), named after the common bighorn sheep, established in 1897 as a nature reserve in the United States and one of the longest protected woodlands in the United States. Ovis canadensis, one of the two wild mountain sheep species in North America, is the descendant of the Asian mountain sheep that migrated on the Baling Land Bridge about 600,000 years ago, and is named for the large curved horns of the ram, although the ewe also has horns, but it is much shorter and only slightly curved.

From afar, the cliffs and rocks in the distance of the forest park are red, a bit like the Danxia landscape in China.
