Officially lost! The shortlist of the best sixth man is out! Unfortunately, Wei Shao is not among them

On April 15, Beijing time, the NBA officially announced the final three candidates for the best sixth man of the season, and the successful shortlisted were Boston Celtics guard Brogdon, Milwaukee Bucks forward Portis and New York Knicks guard Pickley.

This season, Brogdon averaged 14.9 points, 4.2 rebounds, 3.7 assists and 0.7 steals per game, shooting 48.4% from the field, 44.4% from three-point range and 87% from the free throw line;

Portis averaged 14.1 points, 9.6 rebounds, 1.5 assists and 0.4 steals per game this season, shooting 49.6% from the field, 37% from three-point range and 76.8% from the free-throw line;

Quickley averaged 14.9 points, 4.2 rebounds, 3.4 assists and 1 steal per game this season, shooting 44.8 percent from the field, 37 percent from three-point range and 81.8 percent from the free-throw line.

With Brogdon, Portis and Quickley officially shortlisted for Best Sixth Man, it means that Wilson, who was previously highly sought, has officially lost the final competition for the best sixth man of the year. During the regular season, Wilson said in an interview that he was very eager to win this year's Best Sixth Man award, which will be a recognition and encouragement for the successful transformation of his career, and he is confident of winning this award. Of course, it wouldn't be a big deal if he didn't make the cut, and this award would be the icing on the cake for his career at best.

The 2022-23 season is definitely the toughest year of Wilson's career, because he was forced to accept a backup role with the Lakers, knowing that he has been the starting point guard for his team for the past 14 years of his career. But out of consideration for the overall situation, he was forced to accept the substitute role arranged by Darwin Hamm, so that a group of substitutes fought hard in the rotation lineup, contributing to the team's victory, but often unable to attack the city at the most critical moment!

This season, Wilson played a total of 73 regular-season games for the Lakers and Clippers, including 49 games (all with the Lakers) as a team bench, averaging 15.9 points, 5.8 rebounds, 7.5 assists and 1 steal per game, shooting 43.6% from the field, 31.1% from three-point range and 65.6% from the free-throw line.

Frankly speaking, compared to the three players shortlisted for the final list of the best sixth man, Wei Shao is equal in terms of personal data and team record, and the larger gap is free throw percentage, but he has more assists than the other three, which is also a filling for the poor free throw percentage.

So, he deserves to be on the shortlist for Best Sixth Man! But unfortunately, he was eventually ignored by the league. Although losing the Sixth Man of the Year award will make Wei Shao feel a little unhappy, it will not affect his efforts in the next playoffs to help the Clippers strive for every victory!
