Li Luda (1923-2007), a Singaporean industrialist and philanthropist from Anxi County, Fujian Province, donated funds to establish many public welfare undertakings in his hometown, and also donated to poverty alleviation in western China. Enthusiastic about the public welfare undertakings in the hometown
Born in 1923, Li Luda was born in 1923 in Hu'er Village, Hutou Town, Anxi County, and after graduating from primary school, he studied middle school in Xiamen Shuangshi Middle School and Jimei Middle School, graduated from Xiamen University in 1946, from middle school to university, all of which were studied in schools founded by Chen Jiageng, and were deeply influenced by Chen Jiageng's patriotic spirit of patriotism and love for the country. After graduating from university, he returned to Anxi County To teach at Lanxi Middle School and taught at Jimei School of Finance and Economics in the 1950s.
In 1957, Lee settled in Hong Kong and later ran Hesheng Timber Co., Ltd. with his brother. He presided over the business of Harmony In Hong Kong, and founded Wasonic Steamship Co., Ltd. in Hong Kong as the chairman, then engaged in real estate development, financial investment and other businesses in Singapore, Taiwan and other places, and founded Harmony Holdings Limited in Singapore as the chairman of the board, and later developed into The Harmony Group Company.
After decades of struggle, Li Luda has achieved great success in his career and become an industrialist. After he succeeded in his career, he did his best to give back to the society. In 1985, he and his brother Li Shangda jointly donated funds to build a new school building for Cishan Primary School, which greatly improved the school's operating conditions. Later, Li Luda Kunzhong donated funds to establish the middle school of Cishan School. He then donated funds to establish the Cishan School of Finance and Economics in Hutou, which later became the Cishan Branch of Quanzhou University of Economics and Trade.
In 1992, Li Luda returned to his hometown of Hutou for the first time after decades of absence. He saw that his hometown had not yet popularized early childhood education, and believed that "if the country wants to be strong, it must do a good job in education, and if the hometown wants to produce talents, it must start from early childhood education." So he and his wife Wu Shengjun donated funds to establish Cishan Kindergarten, making Cishan a complete school from kindergarten to primary school, middle school and secondary school. Thousands of students seek knowledge and education in this beautiful school.
Li Luda, who respects teachers and emphasizes teaching, also donated funds to a number of primary and secondary schools and school buildings. Blue Creek Middle School was founded with the donation of his late brother-in-law, Overseas Chinese Lin Shuyan, and it was also the school he used to teach. To this end, he and his brother-in-law and nephew jointly donated funds to build the "Shuyan Building" of Blue Creek Middle School, the "Golden Bird Science and Technology Building" named after his father-in-law. He also donated the construction of the "Zhenyu Building" dining hall named after his heir, and he and his brother Li Shangda donated to build the "Harmony Building" for the teachers' dormitory.
In order to support Anxi No.1 Middle School to create a provincial-level standard high school, Li Luda donated the school to build the "Jingyun Science Building", "Wu Simin Library", "Wu Bozhen Electric Education Hall" and "Li Zhenyu Art Museum". Later, he donated the construction of a student canteen named "Wuwen Lou", donated three student dormitory buildings named "Ruibi Lou", "Kunzhu Lou", "Bing Ti Lou", and "Wu Bozhen Teaching Building", donated a large amount of funds, built a total of 9 buildings, greatly improved the facilities of the school, and enabled the school to successfully create a provincial-level high school.
The primary and secondary school buildings donated by Li Luda also include the "Zhenyu Science Building" of Junmin Middle School, the dormitory building and dining hall for teachers and students; the comprehensive building, teachers' dormitory building, auditorium and sports field of Husi Primary School; the school building of Changkeng Xixi Primary School; and the school building of The Third Kindergarten of Anxi County. He also donated to hengyang school, teaching building of Ci'en Primary School, teachers' dormitory building, auditorium and equipment with his brother Li Shangda.

Li Luda is both a successful industrialist and an outstanding philanthropist. He donated funds to Jianguanqiao Hospital and Xiamen Zhongshan Hospital to establish the "Zhenyu Preparation Center" to encourage hospital staff to do their best to serve patients. In 2005, he decided to donate a hospital in Hutou to improve the medical conditions of Hutou and the surrounding villagers. But he died while in preparation. His wife and daughter continued to complete the construction of the hospital, which was named "Anxi Luda Hospital". In July 2012, the inauguration ceremony of the hospital and the unveiling ceremony of the bronze statue of Li Luda were held.
Li Luda is charity-minded, and he often helps others for pleasure without leaving a name. His wife Wu Shengjun told a story: Once she and Lu Da returned to their hometown, the two were walking on the street of Hutou, and suddenly an elderly man walked up to Lu Da and knelt down in front of him, I asked him what was the matter, he said, "The last time you came back, Mr. Lu Da took money to treat me, and now that I am well, I have come to thank him!" ”
Wu Shengjun said that Lu Da often did this, and did not say anything when he came back after doing good things outside, and if others had not told it, we would not have known. He also asked his subordinates to do more good deeds. His grandson's birthday inscription says, "The most joyful for good!" It is good that you can help others, and you will feel very comfortable in your heart and spirit. "Li Lu da taught, December 26, 2006 A.D." His grandchildren also did what he asked.
Li Luda's enthusiasm for building bridges and roads is also a focus of his philanthropic cause. His hometown Hutou Town is run through by Qingxi, pedestrians on both sides of the river are inconvenient, his father was blocked by Qingxi because of an emergency, vowed to one day, set to build a bridge in this stream, Li Lu Dakunzhong, after the traces, that is, donated funds to build a harmony bridge across Qingxi, fulfilling his father's wish, for the benefit of the people of overseas Chinese.
Li Luda and the original Lin Yingru had three children, Lin Yingru died early, Li Luda and his children donated funds to build a Yingru Bridge across Qingxi in the east of Anxi County in honor of Lin Yingru. He also built the Zhenyu Bridge at the head of the lake, built a cement road to Cishan Academy, and donated money with his brother Li Shangda to build cement roads and bridges in Hengyang Village, Changkeng, and to build Feixin Bridge and Ci'en Bridge in Hushang Township.

Hosting a feast for the elderly is rare in the world
Li Luda, who respects the elderly and respects the sages, especially respects teachers. His teacher, Zhang Shengcai, was the vice principal of Xiamen Shuangshi Middle School and was respected by Li Luda. On the occasion of the 100th birthday of Teacher Zhang Shengcai, Li Luda specially came from Singapore to Xiamen to wish for his birthday and paid for a banquet for his relatives and friends, Zhang Shengcai was very happy, saying that this was the greatest blessing of his life.
Chen Cunmu, chairman of Jimei School Village, is highly respected by Li Luda, and he believes that the remarkable achievements of Jimei Village, which Chen Jiageng donated and founded, are inseparable from the meticulous management of Chairman Chen Cunmu. After the reform and opening up, he invited Chen Cunmu to travel to Hong Kong, and later invited him to travel to Singapore, including Chen Cunmu's relatives, doctors and other entourage, and the expenses in Singapore were paid by him.
Respecting the elderly is a piece of charity heart of Li Luda. He donated funds to the establishment of an activity center for the elderly and a foundation for the elderly in his hometown of Hutou, and donated warm clothing and condolence money to the elderly. Although he is in a foreign country, he misses his father and fellow villagers in his hometown very much, and with the assistance of his relatives and friends in his hometown, since 1988, every spring during the Spring Festival, a banquet for the elderly has been held in the county town every year, and the scope has been expanded from the county town to the outskirts of the city, and the number and funds have also increased year by year. In the Spring Festival of 2006, he held the 18th Spring Festival And Respect for the Elderly Banquet in the county town, and more than 2,700 elderly villagers in the county town gladly attended the banquet. They gathered from the 14 neighborhood committees in the county seat to the three hotels in the county seat, which was very lively. Mr. Li Luda also hosted a banquet for more than 1,100 elderly villagers in three villages on the outskirts of the city, which made his hometown relatives marvel.
Since 1996, Li Luda has also held an annual banquet for the elderly in hutou Town, his hometown, on the eve of the Spring Festival, and in the hall specially built for the banquet, thousands of elderly people attend the banquet, and more than a thousand elderly women and the elderly with limited mobility are distributed red envelopes according to different ages. After his death, the feast was hosted by his daughter until last year. In 2006, Li Luda held a spring greeting banquet for the elderly in the two places, which hosted more than 5,000 elderly villagers. Known as Jia Ba Min, the Anxi Confucian Temple is a national cultural relics protection unit, which has fallen into disrepair for many years and has become dilapidated. In order to protect this ancient cultural relic with a thousand-year history, Li Luda specially donated funds to build the Anxi Confucian Temple. Renovate the ancient Temple of Literature and recreate its majestic grandeur. In addition, Li Luda also donated funds to rebuild the Xianliang Ancestral Hall of the provincial cultural relics protection unit and the former residence of Li Guangdi, a famous minister of the Qing Dynasty.
The "Li Lu Daxing" universe left its name

The Purple Mountain Observatory of the Chinese Academy of Sciences discovered an unnamed asteroid on November 13, 1980. The China Foundation for Poverty Alleviation believes that Li Luda is both an industrialist and a philanthropist, he is willing to be charitable, poverty alleviation, living overseas, caring for the homeland, benefiting Sangzi, making great contributions, in recognition of his great contribution to China's poverty alleviation cause, in accordance with the international regulations on the naming of asteroids, he solemnly recommended Li Luda to the Purple Mountain Observatory as a candidate for asteroid naming.
After the Purple Mountain Observatory received the recommendation from the China Foundation for Poverty Alleviation, the asteroid nomination committee of the station submitted a declaration to the International Minor Planet Center. With the approval of the International Committee on Minor Planet Nomenclature, the asteroid with the international number 3609 was named "Lee Lu Star". The International Minor Planet Center informed the world of the name of the star, and this name became the permanent name of the celestial body, which will forever be recorded in the annals of history.

On April 16, 1996, the China Foundation for Poverty Alleviation held a grand naming ceremony for "Li Lu Daxing" in the Great Hall of the People in Beijing. At the naming ceremony, Lei Jieqiong, vice chairman of the NPC Standing Committee, presented him with an asteroid naming certificate; Wan Guoquan, vice chairman of the NATIONAL COMMITTEE of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, presented him with a bronze plaque for the naming of asteroids; and Wang Guangying, vice chairman of the NPC Standing Committee, sent a congratulatory letter to express warm congratulations to Li Luda!
Li Luda attended the naming ceremony, and his mood was very excited, speaking at the meeting: "China is my hometown, I was born and raised in this land, and this is where my roots lie. Although I have lived overseas for many years, China has always been the place where my soul is haunted. When I made a slight achievement in starting a business overseas, my biggest wish was to contribute to my hometown and my fathers and fellow villagers. The good timing of China's reform and opening up has given me the privilege of fulfilling my long-cherished wish for many years. "What I did was insignificant, yet I made a little bit of it and got the fountain, and today I am honored in my hometown to name asteroid 3609." I deeply feel the love of the people of my hometown for me and the ardent care for our overseas wanderers. ”
Li Luda said: "The naming of asteroids is a lofty honor, and all the people who have won this honor are people and scientists who have left their roots and enjoyed worldwide fame. Today, although Li Lu Daxing is in the midst of a star and enjoys glory together, I know that I am not as good as those great people of the ancestors, and I really dare not compare with it. Therefore, this honor is not only my personal gain, but also the common honor of tens of millions of overseas naked children who have made contributions to Sangzi in our homeland, and the common honor of all the descendants of Yanhuang in the world. "What I have done is insignificant, but I hope to use my own efforts to help the development of my hometown, to create more pillars of material, and to add a touch of brilliance to China that is about to enter the new century." In May 2006, after Li Luda learned of the death of Xiang Nan, former president of the China Foundation for Poverty Alleviation, Zhao Puchu, a famous calligrapher who was vice chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, wrote a long poem in memory of Xiang Nan, "Comrade Xiang Nan's Lamentations". Xiang Nan's family and relatives and friends wanted to use Zhao Puchu's handwritten poems to build a monument to Xiang Nan's hometown of Liancheng County Scenic Spot Guanzhi Mountain, pinning their thoughts on Xiang Nan. Li Luda was informed that he would pay the full amount of money. And paid most of the funds first. Unexpectedly, shortly after the construction of the poetry monument began, he died, that is, it was honored by his wife Wu Shengjun.
On June 17, 2006, a delegation from Fujian Province, which was visiting Singapore, paid a special visit to Li Luda. Lu Zhangong, head of the Fujian delegation and then secretary of the provincial party committee, said to Li Luda: "Mr. Li has made great contributions to the public welfare undertakings in Fujian, and on behalf of the 35 million people of Fujian, I thank you. "Many young people have learned in the schools you donated, and I thank you on their behalf."

His eldest daughter, Li Mingyu, said: "Although we grew up abroad and received foreign education, we have strong feelings for our hometown. Our parents often take us back to our hometown to visit our relatives, and we are willing to follow our father's example and do our best to contribute to our hometown. ”

Li Luda donated his hometown to hold public welfare undertakings and made outstanding contributions. He has been awarded the Gold Medal of the Fujian Provincial Government for donating funds to run schools and donating funds to establish public welfare undertakings, the plaques of "Leyu Talents" and "Huize Sangzi" awards. Since 2004, the Fujian Provincial Government has erected a monument to Li Luda three times. After his death, he held memorial and farewell ceremonies at the FeilongShan Funeral Home in Singapore, the Jingxin Hall in Hutou Town, Anxi County, and the Funan Hall in Xiamen Jimei School Village, respectively, to mourn and remember this famous celebrity of the century at home and abroad and who remained in the universe. Relevant leaders of Fujian Province and Quanzhou City and leaders of the four groups of Anxi County respectively attended the memorial activities held in the three places, and thousands of people from all walks of life participated in the memorial activities. Although Mr. Li Luda has been away from us for more than 10 years, his name and achievements will live with the asteroid "Li Ludaxing" 3609 and shine with the sun and the moon.
