According to the website of the Danxun Education Foundation of Guangdong Province, Zhang Guang, whose real name is Wang Pengfei, was born in November 1929 in Baiyangshuzhai Village, Jiaokou Town, Lintong County, Shaanxi Province, and joined the Communist Party of China in the spring of 1946. In October 1947, Zhang Guang was assigned to the Northwest Branch of xinhua news agency in advance and became a journalist, successively working in the northwest branch of Xinhua News Agency, the northeast branch, the Liaoning branch, and the cultural and educational group of the headquarters.

After returning to work in Shaanxi, Zhang Guang served as the secretary and editor-in-chief of the party committee of Shaanxi Daily, a member of the Shaanxi Provincial Party Committee, and a member of the Standing Committee of the Provincial Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference.

It is worth mentioning that Zhang Guang is the son-in-law of Liu Zhidan, commander-in-chief of the North Road Army of the Chinese Workers' and Peasants' Red Army and commander of the 28th Army, and commander of the Guard at Wayaobao, where the CPC Central Committee is located.

According to public information, in October 1903, Liu Zhidan was born in Jintang Town, Bao'an County (now Zhidan County), Shaanxi Province, and joined the Communist Party of China in 1925. In his oath to join the party, Liu Zhidan wrote: "To join the party, you must fight for the communist faith to the end. As an individual, to struggle to the end is to struggle to the death. After the defeat of the Great Revolution in 1927, he traveled all over Shaanxi and Gansu to organize uprisings and riots, and became one of the main founders of the Northwest Red Army and the Northwest Revolutionary Base Area.

In March 1936, Liu Zhidan led the Red 28th Army to participate in the Eastern Crusade, and on April 14, he died heroically in the battle of Sanjiao Town, Zhongyang County, Shanxi, at the age of 33. In order to commemorate him, the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China decided to change Baoan County to Zhidan County.

After Liu Zhidan's sacrifice, the only flesh and bones left behind was his 6-year-old daughter Liu Lizhen. Liu Lizhen devoted her life to the medical cause of saving lives and helping the injured, and died in November 2014.

In July 2017, Zhang Guang told reporters in an interview with Xinhua News Agency that when Liu Zhidan died, he only had six cigarettes and half-cut pencils in his leather bag. He did not leave any property to his family, but he left the most precious spiritual legacy, that is, the idea of wholeheartedly serving the country and the people, the style of keeping close ties with the masses and proceeding from reality in everything, and his noble character of bearing heavy burdens and taking into account the overall situation.

"My father-in-law was very famous and loved by the masses, because he beat the landlords for their wealth and let the people eat and have a field, but he himself lived a hard life like a Soldier of the Red Army." Zhang Guang told Xinhua news agency reporters at the time.
