On March 3, Chinese Ambassador to South Sudan Ma Qiang and South Sudan's Minister of Water Resources and Irrigation Par Mai Deng signed the Agreement on the Implementation of the Well-Drilling and Water Supply Project in South Sudan on behalf of China and South Yugoslavia, and Mu Jianjun, Business Counselor of the Embassy, and Emanuel, Deputy Minister of Water Resources and Irrigation, attended the signing ceremony.
At the signing ceremony, Minister Parr thanked China for its help and support in South Sudan's water resources utilization and infrastructure construction over the years. He said that the well-drilling and water supply project signed this time will further improve the water environment of local residents, enhance the water supply capacity of rural areas in South Sudan, improve people's livelihood and improve people's quality of life. At the same time, it will also promote the socio-economic and agricultural development of South Africa, promote cooperation in related fields between the two countries, and serve the development of bilateral relations.
Ambassador Ma said that with the joint cooperation and efforts of China and South Africa, the project of drilling wells and supplying water to South Sudan will help promote the cooperation process between the two countries and erect another monument to the traditional friendship between the two countries. China is willing to continue to increase support and assistance in the field of water resources utilization in South Africa under the framework of the Belt and Road Initiative, the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation and the Global Development Initiative, so as to enhance the well-being of the two peoples and promote the building of a China-Africa community with a shared future.
After the signing ceremony, Ambassador Ma and Minister Parr were interviewed by South Sudanese state television.
The main component of the water supply project is to build 47 wells in Central Equatoria and Lakes states of South Sudan, including 32 conventional wells and 15 hand-pressed wells.
