99th anniversary of Jin Yong's birth: The life of a martial arts master is more dashing than his characters

March 10, 2023 is the 99th birthday of Mr. Jin Yong, the first Chinese martial artist and a famous writer known as Jin Daxia. If the hero is there, where will he brew wine and discuss swords in the rivers and lakes at nearly a hundred years old?

Jin Yong is recognized by countless readers as the first of the four great talents of Hong Kong and the four masters of new martial arts novels, and his status in the contemporary martial arts literature is unknown.

It is natural for a literati to become a talent, but how can he write a sword and overwhelm the crowd to become a generation of grandmasters? The answer may be hidden in the couplet "Flying snow shoots white deer in the sky, laughing book god relying on Biyu".

Since ancient times, there have been clouds: the height is cold. Jin Yong, who leads contemporary martial arts literature, is a peerless master, and also a mortal fetus with sorrow and joy. Are there any regrets in his legendary life, and what kind of stories do he have with other grandmasters and talents?

Feng Qingyang, Hong Qigong, Dugu seeking defeat? Who is Jin Yong more like in his own book?

In 1950, Jin Yong was the editor of the "New Evening News", a supplement to Ta Kung Pao, sharing a desk with Liang Yusheng, at that time, Mr. Liang mainly wrote literary sketches and film reviews, and five years later, Jin Yong succeeded Liang Yusheng in charge of the serialization of new martial arts novels.

At the age of 31, Jin Yong was inspired by Mr. Liang's novel and completed his first novel "The Book of Swords and Revenge".

In the fusion of the real and virtual worlds, Jin Yong found a way to realize his own maintenance of "fairness and kindness". He founded Ming Pao and began to cultivate, fight monsters, and upgrade in the rivers and lakes he created.

In order to attract more readers, Jin Yong's martial arts style was out of control, and he completed 15 works in a row, 7 of which became classics of martial arts literature. Ming Pao sold more than 70,000 copies, far ahead of the print media ranking at that time.

Jin Yong's status as a quack has been established since then, and has stood for decades.

In 1972, Jin Yong began to seal the pen after completing "Luding Ji", but "Ming Pao" could not lose its soul plate, so he put down his body and sent an invitation to Gu Long to write a manuscript, and this cooperation made the two grandmasters become lifelong friends who cherished each other.

Gu Long died young due to liver disease in 1985, and every time he mentioned this partner, Jin Yong's eyes were full of appreciation and regret.

Liang Yusheng, a former colleague and the same age as Jin Yong, is also one of the four great martial arts literary grandmasters, and from 1956 to 1984, he wrote a total of 35 martial arts novels, among which "The Legend of the White-Haired Witch", "Seven Swords Under the Tianshan" and "Pingxia Video" were widely circulated.

Liang Yusheng passed away in 2009, and there was one less top master in Jianghu.

Jin Yong, who was obscure in Taoguang, closed his pen and stopped creating after completing 15 works in 17 years, and in 1993 he officially bid farewell to his 34-year-old Ming Pao.

At this point, only Wen Rui'an was left with the four great masters to support the overall situation.

In addition to his peers who write martial arts novels, Jin Yong and other "talents" also have a good relationship.

Cai Lan admires Jin Yong the most in his heart, he is a proper Jin Yong martial arts fan.

But the best relationship with Jin Yong was Ni Kuang, who in 1962, encouraged by Jin Yong, began to serialize novels in the supplement of Ming Pao, and even ghostwrote Jin Yong's "Dragon Babu".

Ni Kuang met and became friends with Gu Long in 1967, and later facilitated Gu Long and Jin Yong to collaborate on writing a novel for Ming Pao.

The rivers and lakes are so big, although Huang Xiao did not directly cooperate with Jin Yong, many theme songs in film and television dramas adapted from Jin Yong's works were composed by Huang Xiao.

For example, "Happy Play" in "Luding Ji", "A Laugh in the Sea" in "Smiling Rivers and Lakes", are widely sung, and the reason for their success is indispensable for the two masters' sympathy for each other and their spiritual rhino.

Now, the famous four great talents of Hong Kong have passed away 3, and Cai Lan sighed when he recalled his old friends.

In the 70s of the last century, Jin Yong's life ushered in one peak after another, and his career was unprecedentedly prosperous.

In 1973, Jin Yong visited Taiwan, and Jin Yong's martial arts fan Chiang Ching-kuo received him. This smooth meeting between fans and idols made Jin Yong's novel unsealed from a banned book to a hot-selling novel, and promoted the upsurge of film and television dramas adapted from novels in Taiwan.

However, the weather is unpredictable, and blessings and misfortunes depend on each other. Just like the martial arts in the novel, Jin Yong suffered a critical blow from fate at the peak of his career of fame and fortune.

In October 1976, his son Cha Chuanxia committed suicide, and the reason was that Jin Yong had to swallow the evil fruit he planted.

In the early years, Jin Yong and his wife Zhu Mei, who was 11 years younger than him, joined forces and shared solidarity. I thought that I could share happiness and hardship, but unexpectedly, the two of them were full of contradictions after achieving fame, and Zhu Mei, who was too strong, became Jin Yong's heart disease, and even dared not go home with fear.

By chance, Jin Yong met waiter Lin Leyi in the café, Lin Leyi, who is 29 years younger than Jin Yong, quite a bit of the charm of female star Xia Meng, and Xia Meng is the unique goddess in Jin Yong's heart.

Lin Leyi's appearance ignited Jin Yong's love for Xia Meng in his heart, knowing that it was wrong, but he wanted to be wrong to the end. Soon, Jin Yong and his wife put divorce on the agenda.

His son Cha Chuanxia was originally wise and sensitive, and at the age of 14, he wrote the verse "Life is very bitter, and it is unintentional".

When he learned the news of his parents' divorce, it happened that he had fallen out of love and was in disarray, so he "persuaded him with death" and ended his 19-year-old life.

In fact, Cha Chuanxia's behavior not only did not reconcile his parents, but accelerated the breakdown of the two and ended the 20-year marriage.

White-haired people send black-haired people, it is originally a sad life, not to mention the eldest son who has put his heart and soul into high hopes.

Isn't life a novel? This scene and plot, which often appeared in his novels, has now become a reality, and Jin Yong is heartbroken.

On July 18, 1981, Jin Yong's career once again reached a new height, and Deng Gong waited for Jin Yong, the founder of Ming Pao, and his family at the door of the Fujian Hall.

It turned out that Duke Deng had become a martial arts fan of Jin Yong a few years ago, and he had asked someone to buy a set of Jin Yong's martial arts novels, which he must read for half an hour every noon and evening.

After this long talk, Jin Yong returned to Hong Kong and sent a complete set of 36 volumes to Duke Deng. Since then, the mainland has unsealed his martial arts novels, regardless of men, women and children, and Jin Yong's name has resounded throughout the Chinese world.

On May 8, 1999, Jin Yong took the initiative to sell the copyright of "Smiling Rivers and Lakes" to CCTV at a price of 1 yuan, only hoping that CCTV could make his novel as good as the four famous works.

As early as 1991, Jin Yong's Ming Pao Group made a profit of 100 million yuan, making money is no longer the goal, leaving a legacy is what he really wants.

After his old age, Jin Yong went to various places to visit the martial arts schools that appeared in the novel, and was generally welcomed by martial arts people.

Only the Qingcheng faction believes that Jin Yong has smeared them in the novel "Smiling Rivers and Lakes", and twice refused Jin Yong to go to Qingcheng Mountain.

Later, after nearly a year of coordination by the directors of the Taoist Association, in 2004, Jin Yong climbed the mountain and shook hands with the Qingcheng faction, and Jin Daxia's name as the "alliance master" of martial arts was finally implemented.

In March 2009, Jin Yong won the Lifetime Achievement Award of the World Chinese Festival.

With his own efforts to create a school of contemporary martial arts literature, and personally practiced for it, he has worked tirelessly for decades, promoting the traditional Chinese culture represented by martial arts to the world, and influencing the three views of several generations.

"The great of heroes, for the country and the people." Jin Yong really did it, and he deserves this award.

On October 30, 2018, Jin Yong passed away at the age of 94.

Jin Yong once said that "life is to make a big fuss, and then quietly leave", and he did what he said and deed.

When the news came out, the entire Chinese world had the sadness of losing a generation of grandmasters, and countless netizens all sighed that "there will be no more rivers and lakes after Jin Yong".

Looking back on Jin Yong's life, he has experienced pioneering in his career, proudly climbing to the top, retiring with success, seeing the glory of the peak, and being followed by the people all his life. It can be described as a real happy rivers and lakes, watching the world.

However, Grandmaster, like ordinary people, cannot have a full life, and there are always shortcomings that cannot be repaired.

Just like Feng Qingyang practiced the "Dugu Nine Swords" and still thought about the cliff, Hong Qigong had to help his disciples follow or couldn't eat the most satisfying food, and he was lonely and defeated in martial arts cultivation but could not get defeat all his life...

In Jin Yong's seemingly honorable life, the goddess could not ask for it, his best friend could not be accompanied for a long time, his beloved son died tragically, and his wife was determined to let go, these are all eternal pains in his heart, which cannot be made up for in any way, which has nothing to do with achievement, fame and fortune.

By March 10, Jin Yong celebrated his 99th birthday. As the saying goes, "Nine nine to one, the end is the right fruit".

If Jin Daxia is still safe, where will he cook wine and discuss swords in the rivers and lakes at nearly a hundred years old? Has his regrets in the real world faded away and he no longer cares?

Collect the knife and wave it away, Jianghu Xiao Xiao Ban Ma Ming. I wish Jin Daxia a happy 99th birthday and all the best in the rivers and lakes.
