Pregnancy is a sacred moment for any mother, but there are some weird pregnancies all over the world that take pregnancy to a whole new level, and here are the 10 most incredible pregnancies and births recorded.

1. The tallest baby

In January 1987, Anna Bates broke the Guinness World Record by giving birth to the longest baby ever made, a baby that was 28 inches (71.12 cm) long from head to toe and weighed nearly 22 pounds (10 kg). The baby, known as Babe, tragically died 11 hours after birth.

The baby's parents are tall, with mother Bates being 7 feet 11 inches (241 cm) tall and the baby's father, Martin Van Buren Bates, being 7 feet 9 inches (236 cm) tall.

2. The shortest baby

At birth, the world's baby was born just 9.44 inches (24 centimeters) long, the shortest baby ever recorded, setting a Guinness World Record. Nisa Juárez was born 108 days prematurely on July 20, 2002, and weighed only 11.3 ounces (320 grams) at birth. Five months later, she was discharged from hospital on 6 December 2002.

3. Most babies born to one mother

A woman who lived in the 18th century, known only as the first wife of Fyodor Vasiliev, a peasant from Shuya, Russia, gave birth to 69 babies in her lifetime, according to Guinness World Records.

However, she did not give birth 69 times because she gave birth to 16 sets of twins, 7 sets of triplets and 4 sets of quadruplets (she also holds the record for the most twins and quadruplets born to one mother). Her husband remarried and had 18 children with his second wife, meaning he had 87 children (although there is no way to confirm that he was the father of all of them).

4. Most premature babies

The record for the earliest surviving baby was held by Curtis Mans, who was born just 21 weeks after being in the womb, weighing just 14.8 ounces (420 grams) according to Guinness World Records. His mother, Michelle, gave birth to him in July 2020, and his chances of survival are less than 1%.

Despite only extremely low odds, he celebrated his second birthday in July 2022. He experienced some health complications due to premature birth, he was on medication and initially he had to eat through a tube every three hours to maintain caloric intake.

5. The earliest twins

This one was created by twins in Iowa who were born 125 days prematurely by their mother Judy at week 22 in 2018. Babies weighed only 17.3 ounces (490 grams) and 13.4 ounces (379 grams) at birth, respectively.

6. The first IVF

IVF is a baby conceived by the mother outside the womb and subsequently implanted in the body by in vitro fertilization, Louis Brown, born on July 25, 1978, and the mother is Leslie Brown, who was conceived in vitro on November 10, 1977.

According to the British "Daily Mail", since Louis was born, more than 1 million babies have been conceived through IVF by the American Society for Reproductive Medicine. IVF has also become safer.

7. Most babies are born at once

In 2021, a Malian woman named Halima Cissé gave birth to a pair of non-twins – nine children in a single pregnancy. Cisse was originally thought to have conceived seven children, but on May 6, 2021, after 30 weeks of gestation, she successfully delivered all nine children by caesarean section, breaking the world record and allowing most of the surviving children to be born immediately. The family of 11 returned home to Mali after 19 months in Morocco.

8. Most triplets born to a woman

Originally from Italy, Gejada had 15 triplets in her lifetime, and she lived between 1839 and 1886, according to Guinness World Records.

9. Full-term births are the oldest human embryos

On April 22, 1992, the twins created through in vitro fertilization were born on October 31, 2022, after being preserved in liquid nitrogen for more than 30 years. The twins, who remain the oldest embryos to be born at term, were born to an English couple, Rachel and Philip Ridwell, who named the child Lydia and Timothy.

10. The oldest mother who has successfully conceived to term

A woman named Maria Del, who was undergoing IVF treatment in California, had previously lied about her age, telling the clinic she was 11 years younger than her actual age.

In 2006, she broke the world record for the oldest mother, giving birth at the age of 66 years and 358 days herself. At that time, she told the clinic that gave her artificial insemination that she was actually only 55 years old, and she hid the fact that she was really aged.
