This spring, 8 women's "growth" stories

In a world of strong logic, it is dangerous to show our vulnerability, and we carve out space for vulnerability.

Planning|Editorial Department of People

Every woman's life is a long journey. They seek their way barefoot in the wilderness, step by step, stepping on a rich and diverse life experience.

At 19 o'clock on March 6, "People" will join hands with 8 women from different fields to jointly create an observation and discussion on the theme of "growth" on WeChat Channels. They are active in different fields, with different personalities and different ages, but what is the same is that they will use their own words to make the most authentic individual expression this spring.

They are: host Zhang Yue, actor Zhang Jingchu, L'Oréal North Asia and China Chief Corporate Affairs and Public Relations Officer Lan Zhenzhen, "People" editor-in-chief Zhang Han, actor Wang Ju, Beijing Winter Olympics figure skating pair skating champion Sui Wenjing, underwear designer Yu Xiaodan, and Beijing Normal University young teacher An Chao.

At first, we were all shocked to see the stories they were preparing. In these narratives, there are no grand words, only the ups and downs of each person's life experience, who is not afraid to expose their vulnerability or hide their desires. At a time when ideas are increasingly divided, everyone who is still willing to export and express on public platforms, we can see something called bravery in her.

Each of us brings out the most precious story in her life and tells us, how did she become her?

"Growth" is never a light joint, but a dance with the pain and beauty of life.

On the day he learned that Zheng Linghua, a "pink-haired girl" who had been raped online for a long time, died, Zhang Jingchu recorded a video. In the video, she tucks her hair into a net pocket and puts on a pink wig. Mentioning the pain similar to Zheng Linghua's, she choked up for a while.

It takes a lot of courage to speak of "pain," which means that the narrator mobilizes his inner strength to peel away the wounds of the past. But Zhang Jingchu feels that telling is a necessity, these pains will bring people together, we see pain, in order to understand the semantics of the weak cry.

She is determined to show the brutal changes these experiences have brought to her, and to inform the public what it means for a woman to be subjected to online violence. If the counterattack does not land, is everything empty? How do we face this powerless situation?

The dull pain about women goes far beyond that. Postpartum depression, the rights of full-time wives, the survival situation of elderly women... These puzzles will haunt the average woman for the rest of her life. 28 years ago, a show called "Half the Sky" put them in front of the public, and the host Zhang Yue gave countless living women the opportunity to "be heard and seen".

"I'd rather be miserable than numb." Liu Xiaoxian, a woman dressed in red in the Guanzhong Plain, shouted with the help of Zhang Yue's program, which later stirred in the hearts of countless women. Let everyone who has hurt know that I am not alone.

Today, women's workplace ceilings still exist like ghosts. In many hidden corners, women are still pushed to the edge. These ceilings, which were "always so" in men's mouths, will now be broken by women themselves.

Lan Zhenzhen, L'Oréal North Asia and China's Chief Corporate Affairs and Public Engagement Officer, "The Power of Intuition" made her a member of L'Oréal China's founding team and ignited her passion for the business. Over the past 30 years, she, together with L'Oréal, has lifted up the growth of many women.

In Lan Zhenzhen's view, "Beauty is power, we hope that all women will gain this power, and we believe that the power of women will definitely make the future world more fair, diverse and inclusive." Through beauty, we want to change not only women's appearance and feelings, but also change the attitude of the outside world towards women, so that more women's 'invisible power' can be lit up and the world moved."

"Empowering women" is not an empty slogan at L'Oréal, but a sincere commitment, and L'Oréal hopes to become a pair of hands behind more Chinese women running towards a better life, and "hand in hand" with them.

The editorial board of "People" led by Zhang Han has been committed to bringing women of different faces into the public eye for many years, leaving many valuable records and adding diverse voices of women to the times. In these reports, we saw Liu Xiaoxian, saw Song Xiaonu, the ex-wife who "wanted a hug", saw 20 million sisters-in-law, and saw thousands of "us".

Zhang Han and Lan Zhenzhen want to discover those "invisible forces", create something for women, and squeeze away the clichés that bind us.

To talk about obesity, to talk about the body, Wang Ju firmly emphasized to us the theme she talked about. She repeatedly gained weight, lost weight, and struggled with appearance anxiety, so that she could gradually truly talk to her body. She wanted to share all these experiences.

The poet Yu Xiuhua once wrote, "I love my body with rusty spots." The body is our intimate partner, an important medium for women to understand each other, and it is certainly a proposition worth solemnly telling.

Like Wang Ju, Sui Wenjing is in the industry with the strictest scrutiny of the body. As a figure skater, she has endured unimaginable injuries and lows, and even "shattered" for a while. But because of this, she is more keenly aware of the strength and freedom of her body. The body is not only used for competition, but also for expressing beauty and vitality.

Lingerie designer Yu Xiaodan told us that she recently read a book called "Centrifugation is Breasts". This is a collection of 72 letters about breast cancer patients. In the letters, women tell each other the secrets of their breasts, their experiences of coping with illness, their fears and hopes when they are sick, and their freedom.

By chance, Yu Xiaodan paid attention to the needs of breast cancer patients for underwear. She was surprised that this group of more than 2 million people in China did not have a suitable underwear, and she was determined to fill this gap. When one patient learned about it, he called Yu Xiaodan and cried and told her that someone finally paid attention to them, helped them, and fought with them.

An Chao, a girl from Shandong, set out from the countryside to Wuhan, Beijing, and even more distant worlds. In the process, she often heard the "recall" of her hometown and traditional ideas. She gave birth during her doctorate and experienced painful Chinese-style confinement and postpartum depression. When she was in trouble, it was her two teachers who dragged her out. There are more outstanding female seniors, holding forums, training and supporting young female professors, and insisting on communication between women of different generations. An Chao's doctoral dissertation "Pulling the Big Child" was also completed with the encouragement of teachers.

The most valuable strength of women is empathy and support for others. Before us, female predecessors left precious female words that became the flesh and blood of those who came after. In the story over and over again, these life forces will be firmly passed on, forming a continuous spectrum.

Stories are delivered not only by the narrator, but also by the listener. We cordially invite you to join this vibrant spring "tea party". Seize this spring, we embrace each other and "grow" together.
