Compared with last year, the main force of this donation is mainly Internet giants, and the real estate industry giants have decreased accordingly, and Evergrande, which was flourishing last year, did not make the list this time.
This ranking includes cash and equity donations from April 1, 2021 to August 31, 2022, as well as legally valid commitment donations.
Liu Qiangdong donated 62,376,600 Class B ordinary shares to a third-party fund for charitable purposes. It is mainly used for social welfare undertakings such as education and environmental protection that Liu Qiangdong has long been concerned about. According to the closing price on the announcement day, Liu Qiangdong's donation is worth about 14.9 billion yuan.
Wang Xing also transferred 57.31 million shares to the Wang Xing Foundation last year, equivalent to about 14.7 billion yuan, including 100 million yuan donated by the group in Henan disaster relief.
Last year, Lei Jun donated 300 million shares to the Xiaomi Foundation and the Lei Jun Foundation in his personal name, about 14.5 billion yuan, and donated 10 million yuan in Shaanxi and 45 million yuan in Henan, 500 million yuan in education assistance projects and 500 million yuan in innovation projects in the name of the group.
The family of Ding Shizhong, the richest man in Xiamen, donated a total of 10.1 billion yuan in the past year, ranking fourth. The main donations include a pledge of 10 billion yuan to the Hemin Foundation in the name of the family, of which the share donation part is worth 7.7 billion yuan. This year, entrepreneurs donated mainly in the three directions of education, disaster relief and rural revitalization, and the largest number of donors to the field of education was made, with 66% of the philanthropists on the list contributing to education, an increase of 27% over last year. Disaster relief donations ranked second this year, accounting for 28 percent. The number of donations for rural revitalization accounted for 21%, ranking third.
This year, 21 of the philanthropists on the list donated to their alma mater. Larger donations include Zeng Yuqun's donation of 2 million CATL shares to Shanghai Jiao Tong University, worth nearly 1.4 billion yuan; Qin Yinglin donated 1 billion yuan to Henan Agricultural University; Zhang Yiming donated 500 million yuan to Longyan to establish the Fangmei Education Development Fund; Shao Gengang donated 300 million yuan to build a laboratory with Nanjing Agricultural University.
In the natural disasters such as extreme rainfall and floods in Henan, Shanxi and other places, Fangwei's Fangda Group donated 300 million yuan in cash and materials to the disaster; Wang Xing's Meituan, Zhang Yiming's ByteDance, He Xiangjian's Midea Group, Ma Huateng's Tencent, etc. all donated 100 million yuan in cash and materials to the disaster in Henan.
