As the world's largest producer of lab-grown diamonds, the continent has been ahead of other countries for decades in total production of lab-grown diamonds. In 2022, the global lab-grown diamond production capacity will be about 20 million carats, of which the continental lab-grown diamond production capacity will be about 9 million carats, accounting for 40-50% of the global production. Experts predict that the total global production capacity of lab-grown diamonds will exceed 30 million carats in 2023.

In recent years, China's gem-quality lab-grown diamond production capacity has continued to maintain a growth trend, and after a long and extensive technological exploration and innovation, Mainland China has now fully mastered the core technology of cultivating high-quality gem-quality diamond single crystals, which can successfully cultivate colorless or different color grade diamonds.

As a high-tech product, the output and quality of gem-quality lab-grown diamonds have tended to be stable, and their environmental protection and cost-effective characteristics have made more and more consumers pay attention to lab-grown diamonds, providing more choices for the jewelry market, and gradually becoming a new trend in jewelry consumption.

According to incomplete statistics on the distribution of global lab-grown diamond brands, China has 19 lab-grown diamond brands, accounting for 10-20% of the global terminal market share, and is the world's second largest lab-grown diamond consumer market. Cultured diamond jewelry is not only used for weddings, but also for self-pleasing, commemoration, celebration, decoration and other scenes. The lab-grown diamond companies participating in the exhibition will bring a number of exquisite exhibits with rich colors, exquisite cuts and unique designs to the lab-grown diamond exhibition area of the China International Jewelry Exhibition.

After several years of preparation and brewing, the lab-grown diamond pavilion has set sail again to meet you at the China International Jewelry Exhibition, and you are welcome to visit the lab-grown diamond exhibition area on the second floor of Hall 1 (2A613-618).

March 16–20, 2023,

Meet you at China International Exhibition Center (Old Hall), see you all the time!

PS: Small science of lab-grown diamonds

1. Basic properties of lab-grown diamonds:

Molecular structure is also composed of carbon atoms in a high-temperature, high-pressure environment

Hardness is also 10 degrees on the Mohs scale and is the hardest substance

Refractive index Same refractive index (2.42) and dispersion (0.044)

Accreditation Method The same is issued by GIA or IGI with a certificate and a 4C rating

2. Development table of major events in lab-grown diamonds:

1) The 50s of the 20th century: Lab-grown diamonds appeared. Laboratory-grown diamonds at this time are produced using the high-pressure, high-temperature (HPHT) method, which is mainly used for industrial purposes, such as telecommunications and laser optics, as well as as abrasive materials.

2) 70s of the 20th century: GE researchers made the first gem-quality lab-grown diamond. They are clear enough and large enough to be used as gemstones in jewelry.

3) Mid-80s of the 20th century: Manufacturers begin to produce gem-quality lab-grown diamond crystals on a commercial scale. At first, these lab-grown diamonds were almost all small, yellow or brown in color, but in later decades their quality improved.

4) 2000s: Diamonds are made using the chemical vapor deposition (CVD) method, which requires lower pressure and temperature compared to the HPHT method.

5) Mid-2010s: The jewelry market is commercially available for colorless lab-grown diamonds. HPHT and CVD remain the main production methods for lab-grown diamonds.
