It is understood that air pineapples, also known as iron orchids, are native to Latin America and the southern regions of the United States, can survive in the air without soil, strong fecundity, and have been sought after by domestic flower plant lovers in recent years because of their certain ornamental value.
Zeng Jian, owner of rare gardening farm: Our air pineapple does not need soil, usually spray some water, its main function is to purify the air, can absorb PM2.5, formaldehyde, benzene and so on in the air. It mainly does not have roots to absorb nutrients, it mainly relies on the leaves to absorb moisture and nutrients in the air, and then through photosynthesis into its own nutrients, it can grow, flower, and bear fruit.
Zeng Jian, the owner of the horticultural farm, had been engaged in the garden business in Guangzhou before, and in 2005 he began to return to his hometown to try small-scale air pineapple cultivation, and it was not until 2018 that he officially returned to Guiping to develop the air pineapple industry. At present, Zeng Jian's horticultural farm has planted 18 air pineapple varieties such as elf, overlord, three-color iron orchid and pine basket, integrating seedlings, cultivation, multiplication and processing. He said that there are two main ways to breed air pineapples: one is seed sowing, which produces seeds through artificial pollination at the flowering stage, and uses the seeds to propagate the next generation; The other is to propagate separately, stripping off the side buds that grow after the air bromeliads bear fruit to obtain new plants.
Zeng Jian, owner of rare horticultural farm: The biggest advantage here is the climate, the climate is relatively humid is conducive to the growth of air pineapples, it just needs less water, so the natural growth is relatively fast.
According to Zeng Jian, the price of air pineapples is determined according to the variety, each plant is mainly between ten yuan and several hundred yuan, and dealers have been developed in major cities across the country, mainly sold to Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou and other first-tier cities, selling more than 60,000 plants per year, with considerable income. In addition to this horticultural farm, Zeng Jian also has another farm specializing in cultivating golden silk Buddha belly bamboo, which has a total scale of more than 50 acres. In addition to the husband and wife, the daily management will also invite nearby villagers to help, popularize more planting knowledge to everyone, and drive them to plant ornamental bamboo, so as to develop the planting industry with the villagers and increase income and prosperity.
Zeng Jian, owner of the rare gardening farm: I have asked local villagers to help, such as shipping, digging seedlings, loading trucks, etc., and the salary is sometimes 80 yuan a day, and sometimes it is 100 yuan a day.
