Gerd Müller, Director-General of the United Nations Industrial Development Organization, Sheng Qiuping, member of the Party Leading Group and Vice Minister of the Ministry of Commerce, Chang Qide, United Nations Resident Coordinator in China, and Zhang Mingxin, Editor-in-Chief of China News Service, delivered welcome speeches.

Gerd Müller said that the supply chain disruption caused by the epidemic has hit the automotive industry particularly hard, but the automotive industry is gradually recovering and developing for the better through change. Supply chain disruptions can also create opportunities to restructure business models, which is key to improving resilience. The automotive industry is critical to achieving digital and "green" transformation, and innovative technologies such as the Internet of Things and artificial intelligence are leading the transformation of the automotive manufacturing industry.

Sheng Qiuping said that the integration of digital technology and the automotive industry has accelerated, and the automotive industry has accelerated its development in the direction of cleanliness, light weight and intelligence. The role of automobiles has shifted from vehicles to large-scale mobile intelligent terminals. At the same time, the transformation and upgrading of the automobile industry can not only effectively alleviate the pressure on energy and environment, but also promote the innovation and upgrading of high-tech industries, with great development potential. It is hoped that the enterprises present here will continue to support the Expo, lead more automotive industry and smart mobility enterprises to participate together, obtain more market opportunities, investment opportunities and cooperation opportunities, and create a better future.

Cheung pointed out that better and more efficient transport systems and other innovations and technologies have great potential to tackle the climate crisis. Digital technologies, which are rapidly evolving and rapidly deploying, play a vital role in enabling smart mobility for sustainable and inclusive urban development.

Zhang Mingxin said that collaboration should become the "propellant" of smart travel. The trend of green, low-carbon, digitalization and intelligence in transportation is becoming more and more obvious, and the realization of a better travel picture is inseparable from government guidance, industrial collaboration, university research, enterprise innovation, social support, and the stability and integration of the global industry supply chain and industrial chain.

In the keynote speech session, Huang Jian, Vice President of JPMorgan Chase Bank (China) Co., Ltd. and President of Global Corporate Bank China, Jim Casey, Chief Commercial Officer of Qualcomm, and Gu Yue, Party Secretary and Chairman of China Pacific Property & Casualty Insurance Co., Ltd., delivered speeches.

Huang Jian said that in the era of smart travel, the two major development directions of new energy and intelligence are leading a new round of reshuffling of the automotive industry. With the decline in battery costs, the continuous improvement of charging facilities, and strong policy support, JPMorgan Chase is optimistic about the development of domestic demand for new energy vehicles in terms of medium- and long-term trends.

Jim Casey believes that the automotive industry fully demonstrates the scale and speed of innovation that is happening at the connected edge. Cars are becoming "networked computers on wheels." 5G enables new multi-user in-vehicle experiences, enabling the next generation of transportation networks, vehicles and services, and paving the way for autonomous driving. In the face of the continuous transformation of the automotive industry, Qualcomm works with partners and customers to help accelerate the realization of the digital future of automobiles and mobility, and help open a new era of intelligent connected vehicles with advanced solutions.

Gu Yue emphasized that the "new four modernizations" of automobiles (electrification, digitalization, networking, and sharing) have given birth to a series of changes in the industrial structure. With the rapid development of the "New Four Modernizations", traditional insurance products cannot meet the risk protection needs brought by the "New Four Modernizations", and it is necessary to innovate insurance products to adapt to the current development trend of the "New Four Modernizations" of automobiles.

At the theme forum "Zero Carbon: Green Hydrogen, Renewable Energy and 'Green' Transition", Wu Yabin, Director of the Investment and Technology Promotion Office of the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (Beijing, China), said that any high-tech is slowly growing when it first appears. The United Nations hopes to help companies identify, discover, judge and evaluate such investment opportunities, and help them walk through the "valley of death" and usher in a blowout of development, and hydrogen energy is the way of the future.

Leng Yan, executive vice president of Daimler Greater China, said that Mercedes-Benz believes that achieving low carbon is one of the key strategic goals for future development, especially promoting low-carbon development in the manufacturing process is the core of achieving this goal. Because the automotive industry involves many upstream and downstream, it is recommended that the government formulate policies to build a transparent carbon emission data platform to achieve common reference and joint supervision.

Wu Yanyan, vice president of BMW Group, Greater China government and foreign affairs, said that BMW will gradually expand the scope of circular economy and use it in more mass-produced products.

Xiang Xiaofang, vice president of government affairs of Ford Motor China, also said that Ford has made its own carbon neutrality commitment, and not only has such requirements for itself, but also hopes that all suppliers in the supply chain will achieve their carbon neutrality commitments.

At the theme forum 2 "Digital Intelligence: Metaverse, Internet 3.0 and Digital Transformation", Deng Lifu, General Manager of Rheinmetall (China) Investment Co., Ltd., said that digital intelligence is a very big arena in China, and now everyone is a member of the arena.

Han Xu, founder and CEO of WeRide, believes that the most important thing for digital intelligence is to cut into the commercialization of subdivided fields, and beautiful concepts and advanced technologies need to be continuously polished in actual scenarios, and finally form mature products to bring quality services to customers and consumers.

Huang Chi, vice president of Momenta, emphasized that to truly achieve large-scale unmanned driving, it is necessary to go hand in hand through the data-driven "flywheel", L2 and L4, use L4 technology to do L2 mass production, and finally achieve mass production of L4 through massive data automation iteration algorithms. We want to identify and solve long-tail problems as efficiently as possible, and truly deliver driverless solutions that can scale and benefit everyone.

Mok Tiande, head of green and smart mobility at the Hong Kong Productivity Council and head of the Hong Kong Automotive Technology R&D Center, said that technology is constantly advancing, and laws and regulations must keep up with the pace of innovation. Now many cities in China have begun to push the laws and regulations on driverless driving, and Hong Kong is already doing legislative work in this regard.

During the forum, the 5th CIIE Automobile Innovation and Development Committee and Smart Mobility and New Energy Committee also jointly released the "2022 Annual Achievement Collection" to discuss the cutting-edge topics, hot trends, pain points and difficulties of industry development. The forum also advocates cross-border collaboration, knowledge sharing, and collective action to bring together the efforts of all parties to provide diversified solutions for smart mobility and contribute to the healthy development of the industry.
