In 1987, French coach Claude Le Roy, who was coaching the Cameroon national team and was revered by African players as the "white wizard", stumbled upon the football talent of Georges Weah, who was playing for Cameroon's Yaoundé Perak, and called Arsene Wenger, who was coaching Monaco in Ligue 1, to recommend the football talent. In the summer of 1988, Arsene Wenger brought Georges Weah to Monaco, and the future World Footballer of the Year began to enter European football.
In 2018, George Weah, who was successfully elected President of Liberia, personally presented Liberia's highest medal of honor to two benefactors who changed the destiny of themselves and the Liberian nation to thank them for their help.
