The Xiuwen River runs through the city and is known as the mother river of the Xiuwen people, which has received extensive attention from all walks of life.
In order to make the Xiuwen River clear and the banks green, Xiuwen County began to implement the Yangming River (Xiuwen River) comprehensive treatment project in Xiuwen County in 2019, with a project treatment area of 6.2 kilometers of river and a red line width of 70 meters, and the construction content includes urban flood control and river treatment projects, dam storage projects, as well as water and soil conservation on both sides of the river, environmental protection and control, greening, garden roads, lighting, water supply and drainage and other projects. Through the implementation of this project, the water quality of the Xiuwen River has been significantly improved. Today, the banks of the river have become a good place for nearby residents to take a leisurely stroll.

"Now the renovated Xiuwen River is much better, the river surface is wide, the water is clear and the banks are green, and the air is clear. Before the renovation, the Xiuwen River was narrow and the water quality was poor, and the unpleasant smell of the river was very uncomfortable. Mr. Li said.
Since 2012, the Xiuwen County Water Management Bureau has carried out a total of 6 river treatment, with a total estimated investment of 81.7603 million yuan, a total of 76.35 million yuan of special funds in place, a comprehensive treatment length of 20.4 kilometers, and 28.466 kilometers of new embankments. Through the implementation of river management, 75,700 people have been protected and 7,700 mu of basic farmland have been protected.
On May 27, 2020, the decentralized water supply consolidation and improvement project in Liangjing Area, Liudu Town, Xiuwen County, was completed and put into use, marking that more than 6,700 people in Liangjing Village, Shanbao Village and Fuxing Village of Liudu Town bid farewell to the history of eating Wangtianshui, and will use safe and secure tap water like the people in the city.

Whether urban and rural residents can use sufficient tap water, assured water, and safe water has always affected the heart of every water personnel. Since 2012, in terms of rural water supply, the Xiuwen County Water Affairs Bureau has invested a total of 181,807,700 yuan through new construction, consolidation and upgrading, maintenance and other projects, covering a population of 289,954 people, and the rural tap water penetration rate has reached 97.87%. The "Notice on the Operation and Management of Rural Drinking Water Safety Projects in Xiuwen County" was issued to consolidate local management responsibilities in accordance with the principle of "who uses, who manages", and regularly or irregularly conducts professional training for water stewards to improve management skills. In terms of urban water supply, the construction of Chengdong Water Plant, Hongyuan Water Purification Plant (Zazuo Phase III Water Supply Project), Xichong Water Plant, and Jinqiao Water Plant Capacity Expansion Project were completed, with an additional water supply capacity of 42,400m3/d; Completed the emergency water supply project of Wangguan Reservoir, the upgrading and transformation project of Yangluojing Water Plant, completed the construction of 13.7km of the main network project of Taoyuan Reservoir water supply project; strengthened the improvement of the surrounding environment of the centralized water supply source points in the county, completed the thorough investigation of 32 secondary water supply facilities in the county, and completed the upgrading and transformation of the Taojialongtan lifting pump station; built and completed the high-level pool project supporting the floating platform of Yunpanshan Reservoir and Hongyuan water purification plant; issued the "Xiuwen County Urban Water Supply Emergency Plan" Measures for the Construction and Maintenance of Secondary Water Supply Facilities for Residents in Xiuwen County", etc., effectively improving the water supply guarantee capacity of production and life in one city and three areas.
In addition to the construction of reservoirs, the Xiuwen County Water Bureau has also strengthened the governance of dangerous reservoirs to provide strong support for Xiuwen's economic and social development. Since 2012, Xiuwen has implemented a total of 7 dangerous reservoir risk reduction and reinforcement projects, with a total estimated investment of 23.8643 million yuan and a total of 23.89 million yuan in special funds. Through the implementation of disease risk management in 7 reservoirs, 3,751 mu of farmland irrigation has been improved, providing water for the daily life and production of more than 3,000 people, and ensuring the safety of industrial water in the long-term area.
