On September 1, 2022, the art installation of China's first store building enclosure in The South District of Taikoo Li, Sanlitun, Beijing, was officially launched by professional outdoor brand PeakPerformance. Adhering to the Nordic alpine DNA and Scandinavian aesthetics, PeakPerformance and UCCA Lab, a subsidiary of the UCCA Group, presented a month-long public art project "Creases of The Kabner Mountains".

Inspired by Sweden's highest peak, "Mount Kebner", and combining the sense of shape of mechanical sculpture with the warmth of humanism, this art project is the first time that Nordic artists and Chinese architects have collaborated across borders to present the enclosure as an art installation, conveying to the audience the aesthetics and experience of breaking through the inherent visual framework.

Scandinavian aesthetics debut in Sanlitun

In the name of Scandinavian style, PeakPerformance has always been committed to creating professional outdoor fashion equipment that combines pragmatism and individuality for consumers. As one of the trend landmarks in China, Taikoo Li Sanlitun brings together avant-garde trendsetters, and its frequent public art creation exhibitions and art exhibitions have accumulated cultural heritage, which also provides a good fertile ground for PeakPerformance's first offline debut in China.

The location of Taikoo Li Neighborhood in Sanlitun, Beijing, reflects PeakPerformance's gradual efforts to bring Nordic outdoor thinking to the public, that is, outdoor trends are not only a sustainable lifestyle, but also a new interpretation of fashion aesthetics.

Break the habitual cognition and reconstruct the urban vision

As a symbol of modern city construction and development, architectural enclosures have gradually become one of the carriers of information dissemination. Continuing the humanistic care and aesthetics, PeakPerformance skillfully connects architecture and art, and together with UCCA Lab, a subsidiary of UCCA Group, for the first time, puts art works into the architectural enclosure, making it another extension of the brand spirit's more avant-garde breakthrough and artistic tension.

The installation is based on swedish artist Jesper Nyrén's painting Untitled (PleatED III) and designed by Chinese architect Wang Zi gengyan.

Unlike the sharp image of the original crease in the untitled (Pleated III) painting, PeakPerformance's shop enclosure selects foam to sculpt a curved structure, and adds hand-painted linen to contrast with the straight lines and hard materials in the city's architecture. Drawing inspiration from the down jacket, the foam design is used to create a puffy feel, and the soft material caters to the sharp lines, outlining the crease elements in Jesper's work. Through a multi-sensory experience, PeakPerformance's shop enclosure stands out among linear structures such as reinforced concrete in the Sanlitun business district.

Presenting the construction enclosure in the language of installation art is a vivid shaping of the PeakPerformance brand image, and it also announces the beginning of PeakPerformance's legendary challenge of breaking the visual framework and breaking through the boundaries of fashion and the outdoor with a Scandinavian aesthetic.

Co-create cross-border art and explore cultural integration

At a time when cross-border has become a way of life, how can public artworks go from cross-border co-creation to unbounded integration and serve the lives of the public to a greater extent? PeakPerformance delivered an excellent answer sheet.

Enclosure Incarnation Art Installation – This bold attempt is the essence of the Scandinavian aesthetic that PeakPerformance emphasizes, namely the idea of harmony between man and nature, between man and man and man and matter.

Thanks to the same Nordic genes, the color of Jesper's works is very close to the PeakPerformance 2022 autumn/winter color card, and the unique logical beauty of the 1/3 golden aesthetic proportion stitching and tangent line that the brand pursues in the design can also be blended into the color application of the enclosure. The patchwork of colour blocks complements the proportions of the colour panels and the puffiness of the foam base, and the undulating and spatial three-dimensionality of Sweden's highest peak jumps out.

Cross-border, cross-cultural and cross-field cooperation is not a simple physical superposition, but an organic fusion of chemical reactions. Like the pragmatic functionalism that the Scandinavian style of PeakPerformance has always embraced, the design aesthetic should be based on functionality and sustainability, not on the layers of decorations.

From now on, the "Crease of The Crease of The Capuna Mountain" public art project will continue to be on display until 30 September, while PeakPerformance will continue to lead the public to perceive the aesthetics of the Scandinavian mountains, bringing more visually diverse fashion specialties.
