1. Bait
Most frogs only eat live bait, so to raise frogs well, you need to raise good bait worms! The choice of bait worms is not only based on the size of the frog, but also considers the hardness: for example, the cobalt blue poison dart frog does not eat black ants, and the same size of red ants and termites eats the same size of red ants and termites; the dyed poison dart frog does not eat the mani, but eats the same size of manoe that has been soaked in water (because the shell is soaked).

There are actually many types of bait: fruit flies, crickets, termites, wax worm larvae, jumping tail worms, wheat larvae, etc... In fact, as long as the size is moderate and the hardness is not high, you can also try to give them to eat.
Since many places can also buy residual winged fruit flies (climbing shops and Quezai Street have them), so everyone can not be so nervous, just buy fruit flies for them to eat, remember to add one or two times a week to add sodium powder and vitamin powder, after all, a single food is to supplement a variety of nutrients
As for the number of feedings, once a day, some scientists dissected wild poison dart frogs, counting 56 undigested insects in the stomach, which showed that they ate an astonishing amount. In fact, if you have raised horned frogs, tree frogs or other frogs, you will find that the poison dart frog is really a very lively and active species, and their need for food is naturally much greater than other frogs.
2. Temperature
This is the most nerve-wracking place, we can reach up to 35 degrees Celsius in the summer, but in South America, the native of the poison dart frog, the maximum temperature in the whole year is only 28 degrees! Generally, the data found on the Internet say that the temperature of raising poison dart frogs is between 20-28 degrees, in fact, the temperature adaptation range of different species is slightly different. As most books say, dyed poison dart frogs can withstand the highest temperatures (so I suggest that beginners should start with dyeing). The so-called highest is only about 30 degrees, so before breeding, it is necessary to solve the problem of summer cooling.
There are many ways to cool down, the simplest and most direct, is the cold air (I believe that not everyone can also accept the method); some people use water cooling, frog tank to do the water layer plus running water; some people use snow seeds, placed on the top of the cylinder, with the principle of sinking with cold air; some people use fans... There are all kinds of things, and I always know that it is cooled down.
No matter which method is good, I recommend that you do not buy a frog before, first clearly understand the cooling efficiency of their own equipment, it is best to use a thermometer in the summer to detect, in order not to buy a frog to find that the original temperature is still not appropriate
Speaking of my own experience, dyeing and cobalt blue are also willing to eat at a high temperature of 32 degrees, but they can only appear by chance, and they cannot be at this temperature for a long time
As for the size of the feeding box, it depends very much on the regional nature of the frog. Juveniles and sub-adults are very territorial and can be kept relatively densely; in general, it is quite comfortable to raise an adult poison dart frog in a square tank of one foot. If you have a pair, use more than 18 inches
In addition, the regionality of different varieties is also different: for example, cobalt blue, the female is very territorial, can be two or three males in groups, but the female can only have one; some varieties are just the opposite. Therefore, before breeding, it is best to conduct in-depth research on the breed you intend to breed
Landscaping is not necessary, but it is indeed the icing on the cake to be able to enjoy the poison dart frog living in a natural environment! Take a look at the following pictures, I believe you will agree
Landscape, ever-changing, in general, the land-perched, suitable for making a Moss plain, you can clearly see them eating when feeding; arboreals, to add some water pineapple, they like to live in it. You can also add some pools and running water, there are also netizens to add model stone pillars and rubble or something, imitating the declining civilization, are very interesting and interesting, always know that landscaping is not necessary, but it is definitely a pleasure
Before raising poison dart frogs, I recommend that you consider raising this Bumble Bee Toad first. It is cheaper, easier to buy, has higher heat resistance, has the characteristics of poison dart frogs (daily travel/active foraging), and has a better advantage than arrow poison, no regionality, can be kept in groups!
The cobalt blue poison dart frog is the most famous species, and Canon also uses it as an advertising protagonist, which is also my favorite. It is a relatively heat-resistant and strong variety, suitable for novices. Females are very territorial, and the breeding combination can be a pair, or a mother and two males.
If you like the rainforest, remember to pay attention! thank
