Why do fireflies glow?

What makes fireflies glow?
Beetles produce these phenomena through chemical reactions in specially designed luminous organs at the ends of their bodies. The organ contains a hydrocarbon called luciferin, which is broken down by an enzyme, oxygen, and some energy, all of which boils down to the right chemical reaction, and bioluminescence is what makes the glow of the glowworm's abdomen
The energy released during this process produces glow. Because the firefly's abdomen is transparent, the light is visible. A layer of salt crystals also reflects light, so high brightness can be achieved.
Fireflies use glow to communicate. Female beetles attract males during mating season. However, in a few species, males also have luminous organs. Don't worry: the little beetle's ass doesn't get hot, and the fireflies produce a "cold" light.
However, post-mating happiness is short-lived: males die immediately, while females survive for a few days to bury fertilized eggs.
When and where can fireflies be seen?
