According to a survey by the electronic photo album Photo Box website, although French landmarks are very popular with French people and tourists from all over the world, many attractions are not the photo "punch-in" places that tourists like. The Photo Box website conducted survey statistics through photo data from the social media platforms Instagram and Pinterest.
The survey results show that in Europe, the tourists' favorite punch card attraction is Disneyland Paris, and on the social media Instagram and Pinterest platforms, the hashtag about Disneyland Paris has been used nearly 100 million times and nearly 100,000 times respectively.
It is followed by the most visited museum in the world: the Louvre. The most surprising thing is the third-place photo punch-in attraction, which is the Botanical Garden in the fifth arrondissement of Paris. With 8,500 species of plants and 2,000 trees on this 24-hectare site, many photography enthusiasts come here for inspiration. In fourth, fifth and sixth places are the Palace of Versailles, Montmartre and the Arc de Triomphe. Worldwide, the prestigious Eiffel Tower is unfortunately in seventh place.
In addition, in the top ten of the list of the most popular photo punch-in attractions, the only non-Paris tourist attraction on the list is the Les Gorges du Verdon, which ranks tenth. Photo Box believes that the vertiginous canyons and turquoise lakes are the dream retreats of tourists.
The survey also shows that during this summer's holiday season, visitors are more likely to take perfect scenic photos than selfies that record their vacation time. One in five French respondents (about 22 percent) said the purpose of taking photos was to share their stories on social media. During the holidays, the average French tourist takes 42 photos per day, about 300 photos per person per week.
