The researchers conducted clinical trials in mice and divided them into two groups: the control group and the caffeine group. Long-term caffeine intake was observed to reduce histone acetylation of genes associated with metabolism in hippocampal tissue, meaning that the brains of mice in the caffeine group would perform better. To verify this effect, Professor Isabel Paiva, lead author of the study, used a water maze experiment to compare learning from two groups of mice. The results showed that the two groups of mice had essentially the same swimming speed, but on the third day of training, the caffeine group of mice needed to reach the finish point at a shorter distance.

In addition, the research team used RNA sequencing to compare and analyze the changes in gene expression after learning training in the two groups of mice. It was found that most of the gene expression changes were only in the case of caffeine intake + learning, whether it was up-regulation or down-regulation, and there were significant differences with the blank control group. Throughout the experiment, the mice in the caffeine group did not experience any discomfort, pain, or death.

After the physical and mental benefits of drinking coffee were verified, scientists were not satisfied with this, and then discovered the amazing effect that drinking coffee can prolong life!
