"Mermaid" declared "extinct"

Recently, scientists reported that due to habitat destruction and poaching, dugongs, which are believed to be the prototype of mermaids, have become functionally extinct in China.

Dugongs are mammals of the order Manatee and a marine herbivorous mammal, relying on seagrasses in particular, preferring good water quality and abundant aquatic plants. Because they mainly live within a range of about 20 meters near the coastline, and every few minutes to float to the surface of the water to breathe, coupled with the fact that the ancients could not see clearly, they would mistakenly think that they were people in the ocean, so they associated with the beautiful name of "mermaid".

From the picture, the "mermaid" does not seem to be beautiful, but it is very cute.
