One day in early July 1979, Vietnamese leader Hoang Van Huan suddenly appeared at the gates of the Chinese Consulate General in Karachi, Pakistan, briefly talked to the Chinese consul general, and hurried away to return to his hotel.
Huang Wenhuan went out in a car and disappeared into the control of the Vietnamese government of Le Thanh.
Soon, the panicked "Lê Thanh government" announced a shocking news to the outside world -- "Huang Wenhuan's treason and surrender to China, the Secretariat of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam decided to expel him from the party!" ”
Why did Hoang Van Huan, once a revolutionary hero in Vietnam, a close comrade-in-arms of Ho Chi Minh and a senior leader of the Viet Cong, suddenly leave Vietnam for China?
Reject anti-China and be ostracized
After the death of Vietnamese President Ho Chi Minh in 1969, Le Son soon usurped vietnam's party, government and military leadership and began to pursue a pro-Soviet and anti-China policy.
Huang Wenhuan, as a close comrade-in-arms who had a life-and-death relationship with our party, in order to unswervingly implement President Ho Chi Minh's legacy, firmly stood up against the "pro-Soviet and anti-China" line of the Lê Thanh government, clashed head-on with Lê Sung at many major meetings, and was violently suppressed and ostracized by the Lê Tần clique.
In December 1976, at the Fourth Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam held in Vietnam, the Lần Thanh clique used improper means to make him unsuccessful on the grounds that "Ngễn Van Huan was too illegitimate to hold leading positions", and expelled him from the Politburo and the Central Committee of the Vietnamese Central Committee, leaving him only to retain the position of "Vice Chairman of the Vietnamese Parliament" with no real power.
After that, as a whole, the Le Son Group will deliberately marginalize Huang Wenhuan, either not setting him on the rostrum or not letting the news broadcast his footage, in an attempt to deliberately dilute and weaken Huang Wenhuan's image among the Vietnamese people.
What is even more exaggerated is that the Li Sun Group, fearing that Huang Wenhuan will do something against his will, not only arranged sentries around Huang Wenhuan's residence, but even installed a large number of wiretaps in his residence in an attempt to firmly grasp Huang Wenhuan's every move.
To the outside world, Hoang Van Huan still seems to be a revolutionary hero in Vietnam and a close comrade-in-arms of President Ho Chi Minh. But Huang Wenhuan felt that he was in a cage, and he did not feel like a hero at all. However, the persecution of Huang Wenhuan by the Li Sun Group is far from over.
In April 1979, after the mainland's victory in self-defense against Vietnam, the Lê Son clique became even more resentful of Huang Wenhuan and intensified its persecution of him.
In order to break off Huang Wenhuan's relations with the mainland, the Lê Sun government specially ordered Hđạn Hônh to participate in the so-called "Vietnamese People's Victory Over Chinese Invaders" exhibition in Vietnam at that time, and Lê Sun gladly accepted the order.
But I didn't want to wait until the day I attended the exhibition, Huang Wenhuan actually appeared in a Chinese military uniform and a Chinese military hat, which surprised everyone.
At this point, Huang Wenhuan also knew that it would be difficult to do anything in Vietnam, and might even have to take his political life and freedom, so he began to find ways to escape to China and continue his revolutionary cause.
In the summer of the same year, due to the outbreak of lung cancer complications in the body, Huang Wenhuan began to have a high fever, and the doctor tried everything to not lower his body temperature.
Doctors in Vietnam diagnosed that Hwang Van Huan had a shadow in his lungs, which was considered tuberculosis. However, because vietnamese hospitals did not have the confidence to completely cure tuberculosis, it was recommended that Huang Wenhuan be sent to Berlin, East Germany for treatment.
It was this suggestion that made Huang suddenly realize that his chance to break away from the Lê Sun government and defect to China was at hand.
Get out of control and go to China
In early July 1979, Huang Wenhuan took a flight to Berlin for medical treatment, and the plane stopped in Pakistan, huang Wenhuan took advantage of this opportunity to pretend to be unwell and stayed in a hotel in Pakistan.
After the doctor gave him a health injection that night, Huang Wenhuan secretly came to the Chinese Consulate General in Karachi.
On the day of rest, Huang Wenhuan anxiously knocked outside the door for a long time, before a staff member opened the door and asked him- "Who are you?" Do you have anything to ask? ”
Huang Wenhuan said anxiously, "I am Huang Wenhuan, and I have something to see your consul general." ”
The young man had never heard of "Huang Wenhuan" and did not understand the weight of this name to our party and Southeast Asian countries, but seeing that Huang Wenhuan had repeatedly insisted and behaved well, he still rushed to report to the consul general.
When the consul general heard that it was Huang Wenhuan, he was immediately shocked and quickly opened the door to welcome him in.
After a brief exchange between the two at the consulate, Huang Wenhuan quickly left in a hurry and returned to the hotel. No one knew what they were talking about.
The next evening, after Huang Wenhuan once again asked the doctor to give himself an injection and let the secretary and doctor around him rest, he quietly walked out of the hotel alone, got into a small car that had been waiting at the door, and completely disappeared from the vision of the Li Sun government.
Soon, the Vietnamese side learned that Huang Wenhuan had already arrived in China on July 5, and immediately put a big hat on Huang Wenhuan as a "treason and surrender to China", and tried to force Huang Wenhuan to return to Vietnam with the threat of "expelling from the party".
In the face of all kinds of criticisms, attacks, and slanders of the Le Son Clique, Huang Wenhuan handled things calmly and thoughtfully, and on August 9, he published a "Letter to Compatriots throughout Vietnam" in Beijing, denouncing the erroneous anti-China line of the Le Son Clique, saying: "Although I am old and weak, as long as I still have a breath, I will do my best to contribute to the common revolutionary cause of the Vietnamese people and the people of the world!" ”
After seeing Huang Wenhuan's statement, the Lisun government became angry and ashamed, and indeed expelled him from the party on the charge of "treason and surrendering to China."
In the face of the arbitrarily and unfair practices of the Lê Sun government, Huang Wenhuan was indignant and issued a statement on September 1: "Lê Sun expelled me from the party, which is not unexpected by me, and this decision that violates the will of the true Communists does not shake my determination to continue the revolution!" In order to save the revolution and save the motherland, the true Communists of Vietnam united and waged a resolute struggle with the people to smash the fascist rule of The Le Son gang! ”
Huang Wenhuan's statement stirred up thousands of waves, which caused a nuclear explosion in Vietnam, causing a public uproar, making many people who support Ho Chi Minh's legacy even more dissatisfied with the practices of the Le Son government.
Cure the disease first and then revolutionize
Because Huang Wenhuan was 74 years old when he arrived in China, coupled with a high fever that had not subsided, and heard him say that he had cancer, our party was very worried about his safety, so it immediately arranged for him to be hospitalized in Beijing 301 Hospital a few days after arriving in Beijing.
In order to escort Huang Wenhuan's body, our party has specially set up a medical expert group of the highest standard to be responsible for diagnosing and treating Huang Wenhuan.
After being hospitalized, doctors quickly identified the shadow of his lungs not as tuberculosis, but as a tumor of about 5×6 (cm).
At the beginning, the recommendation of the expert group was to consider that the tumor was not terminal, and Huang Wenhuan was old and frail and inconvenient to operate, and it should be better to take drug treatment, and then cooperate with maintenance, and fully restore physical health.
In order to prescribe the right medicine, our party even spared no expense to Give Huang Wenhuan a valuable chinese medicine such as musk and bear bile, which had an effect after a period of time, but it was not fast, and the tumor was only reduced by about one centimeter.
Huang Wenhuan was eager to be discharged from the hospital and throw himself into the new revolutionary work, so he immediately proposed to our party that "it is better to have surgery and cure it", and got the permission of our party.
In order to make Huang Wenhuan's tumor resection surgery foolproof, our party attaches great importance to it, not only inviting a top lung cancer expert in China to lead the team, but also inviting the president of the Japanese Cancer Hospital.
On September 5, 1979, the president of Beijing 301 Hospital personally performed lung tumor resection surgery on Huang Wenhuan. The operation was very successful, and after two weeks of hospitalization, Huang Wenhuan was able to walk on the ground and write with a pen.
In order to ensure that Huang Wenhuan can recover as soon as possible and facilitate his follow-up work and life, our party has specially equipped him with 2 doctors and 4 nurses.
As for the secretary and the personnel who cooperate with him, our Party means not to interfere in his work, to be chosen by himself from among the Vietnamese comrades.
A few months later, the doctor checked and found that Huang Wenhuan's cancer was actually better, which made Huang Wenhuan very happy, and immediately after returning to the apartment, he wrote a poem:
After being terminally ill for more than a year, Shenzhou had the honor of meeting Hua Tuo.
Now that the disease has been cured, I am willing to compose a battle song for the years.
Since then, With the help and cooperation of our party, Huang Wenhuan has thrown himself into his work wholeheartedly. His focus is on only two points:
I. Disclosure of the erroneous policy and line of attacking the LiSun government's pro-Soviet and anti-China and recognition of enemies as friends.
Second, we call on the Vietnamese people to see the ugly face of the Le Thanh government as soon as possible and strive to fulfill the legacy of President Ho Chi Minh.
In order to re-revolutionize, Huang Wenhuan issued statements such as "On Lê Thanh Tampering with President Ho Chi Minh's Testament," "Ho Chi Minh Anthology and the Traitor Le Sonh," "The Facts of Vietnam-China Fighting Friendship Cannot Be Distorted," and "Restoring and Developing Vietnam-China Friendship Is the Historical Task of the Vietnamese People at Present." He also helped a group of Vietnamese patriots publish the Vietnam News, which revealed the truth about Vietnam.
Because every statement by Huang Wenhuan is loud and clear, remote and direct to the truth, it has caused great impact in Vietnam, China, and even the world. For example, at the beginning, the Le Son government did not allow Vietnam to report on the relevant statements issued by Hoang Van Huan, but later found that the people's indignation could not contain the fire, and then changed to criticism and resistance.
Regarding this practice of the Le Son government, Huang Wenhuan said humorously - "For example, in the "Vietnam News", Li Sun is doing everything possible to block and not let the people know." Later, it was found that the blockade could not be blocked, and instead let the RiverJian newspaper criticize it. Criticism is good, this is nothing more than a voluntary propaganda for the Vietnam News. ”
Occasionally, in his spare time, Huang Wenhuan would also read, write books, write memoirs, and write "A Drop in the Sea", "Huang Wenhuan Han Wen Poems", "Huang Wenhuan Anthology" and so on.
How about later life?
Because Huang Wenhuan had a deep friendship with our Party during the Period of the Great Revolution and was a close comrade-in-arms of our Party, many leaders of our Party were very concerned about his life and work after he came to China, and often ate, chatted, and drank tea with him.
On September 30, 1983, Deng Xiaoping again asked Huang Wenhuan for tea, and the two legendary leaders of China and Vietnam sat on the sofa without restraint and talked.
During the conversation, Deng Xiaoping was concerned about Huang Wenhuan's body and asked him: "How is your body?" ”
Huang Wenhuan replied proudly: "Under the care of Chinese comrades and the care of doctors, I am now in good health." ”
He also said vividly: "Some time ago I went to Qingdao to recuperate and relax, and I also went to the sea to swim more than ten times, each time for more than 30 minutes. If it weren't for the doctor's intervention, I would have swum for an hour! In fact, I secretly underreported swimming time to the doctor every time. ”
Deng Xiaoping listened to the music - "Swimming is good, it is a good sport." I also love swimming. ”
Then Deng Xiaoping deliberately said: "But now it is different, I can only swim for an hour and a half at a time." ”
Deng Xiaoping was born in 1904 at the age of 79, a year older than Huang Wenhuan. Of course, Huang Wenhuan knew that Deng Xiaoping was joking with him, and immediately said with interest: "Then I can only swim for 30 minutes now, the gap between us is still big, I want to look at you!" ”

Then Mr. Deng asked him how he thought about Vietnam and his future priorities. Huang Wenhuan said: Contrary to President Ho Chi Minh's will, Le Sonh has beaten Cambodia and Laos, causing the lives of the people to be devastated, the people are miserable, and the whole of Vietnam has become isolated in the international community.
Deng Xiaoping comforted him that Vietnam had been fighting for 40 years, and it would be difficult to carry out economic development and construction in this way. He also said that Vietnam cannot always fight, it will always stop, and the Vietnamese people will eventually usher in victory.
In the end, the conversation between the two ended in a pleasant and relaxed atmosphere.
In fact, Huang Wenhuan's later life in China was not all revolutionary work, but also leisure and entertainment. His staff once told reporters that Huang Wenhuan's leisure activities are quite rich, and he pays attention to the combination of work and leisure.
Every morning, he would get up and do a few aerobics in the yard to enliven his body, then walk a few kilometers after breakfast. He loves to play billiards, sometimes billiards, and his technique is quite good. In addition, at the invitation of the central leadership and other comrades of the Party, they will often go to see theatrical performances and sports competitions.
In the eyes of the staff around Huang Wenhuan, he is the kind of person who has fun and works well. When it comes to work, one or two points are spent.
The doctor came out to intervene, let him put down the work at hand to rest, he would always say that there was still information not written and then reluctantly went to bed, but the next day the staff looked, the original unfinished information on his desk was always complete.
At 11:00 a.m. on May 18, 1991, Huang Wenhuan unfortunately died in Beijing due to old age and frailty, and he left a will before his death:
The body was cremated, and after cremation, the ashes were divided into two parts, one of which was scattered at the source of the Red River, so that I could follow the water of the Red River back to my hometown. A copy of staying in China to show my nostalgia and gratitude to the Communist Party of China, the people of Chinese and the overseas Chinese.
