According to Italian journalist Rudi Galletti, Chelsea are ready to re-sign Acker in the summer transfer window, with the Manchester City Dutch international asking for £40m.
In July 2011, Acker joined the Chelsea Academy from Feyenoord U17 and has played for the Blues for six years since then. However, the Dutchman spent most of his time on loan to other clubs, making only 17 appearances for the Blues before moving permanently to Bournemouth in the summer of 2017.
Acker has made great strides at Bournemouth, making 120 appearances for the Cherries to date, scoring 11 goals and contributing six assists. After establishing himself as a reliable Premier League centre-back, the 27-year-old was signed by City after Bournemouth was relegated in the summer of 2020.
Acker came to Etihad to find game time under Guardiola, making just 44 appearances in his two years for Manchester City, 27 of them in 2021/22. Of those 27 appearances, only 10 were in the Premier League.
The Netherlands international found himself behind Díaz, Laporte and Stones in Manchester City. With the World Cup on the horizon, Acker is preparing to leave Manchester City at the summer transfer window in search of clubs who can get a fixed playing time.
The 27-year-old former owner Chelsea is a potential destination for him. The Blues are undergoing massive defensive reforms, they have already lost Rudiger and Christensen, and Azpilicueta faces uncertainty about his future at Stamford Bridge. City are reportedly reluctant to let go of Ake without signing a replacement. However, if they are able to bring in a new player in this position, the Blue Moon will not stop the Dutchman from leaving.
