Strong swimming ability, fast growth rate, one-year-old fish up to 50 cm long, weight 1 kg; third-year fish up to 66 cm long, weight 3.5 kg. The longest body length can reach 2 meters, and the weight can reach 50 kg!
It is mainly distributed in the Yangtze River, Pearl River, Minjiang River and its tributary system, and is also rare in lakes, and is related to the eel!

至此之后，2004年及2005年在洞庭湖流域、2009年在长江干流芜湖段、2006年-2008年在珠江干流肇庆段、2009年在赣江峡江的多次鱼类多样性调查行动中，均未能采集到鯮鱼样本。 即便如今禁渔十年也好，环境改善也罢，到底鯮鱼是否还存在于这个地球上，真的是谁也不得而知了。
