According to the BBC, the Singapore government said on Tuesday that the country had found an imported case of monkeypox, confirmed by a 42-year-old male British flight attendant.
The man stopped in Singapore in mid-June, then left the country, entered the country again on the 19th and was diagnosed on the 20th, and is currently receiving treatment at the Singapore National Centre for Infectious Diseases.
This is the first recently reported case of monkeypox in Singapore and the first case of monkeypox in Southeast Asia linked to a recent global outbreak.
Singaporean health officials said the patient was currently in stable condition and had been sent to an isolation ward. At the same time, they also traced 13 close contacts of the case.
Local media reported that the close contacts were the patient's crew and colleagues. They are subject to 21 days of quarantine.
Meanwhile, South Korea, another country in Asia, also reported its first confirmed case of monkeypox.
South Korea's health department said the case was a South Korean who had entered from Germany.

As a result, the case was classified as suspected. Subsequent nucleic acid (PCR) tests and genetic sequencing results showed infection with monkeypox virus.
Earlier on Wednesday, the KDCA reported two suspected cases, one of which was the patient mentioned above and the other was a foreigner who had initially tested negative.
After the first case of monkeypox was confirmed, the Korean Agency for Disease Control and Prevention has raised the monkeypox warning level from the first level of "attention" to the second level of "attention".
