Refusing to board the American tank, Nepal stopped advancing the SPP! Resolutely do not join the Indo-Pacific strategy

author:Tani Hihei

The United States has always sought to create a containment encirclement around China, and any country can become the object of the United States' co-optation; But behind this "hunger and no choice" posture is the unspeakable bitterness of Washington: more and more countries are not buying it, even a small country like Nepal dares to say "no" to the United States!

According to Nepal's Kathmandu Post, the country's cabinet recently met and decided not to promote military cooperation with the United States under the framework of the National Partnership Program (SPP); The Nepalese government said it would notify the US side of the decision through diplomatic channels.

The so-called "National Partnership Program" is a joint Pentagon-led project to promote training exchanges between the U.S. National Guard and "partner countries" in areas such as security cooperation and humanitarian relief; The report also mentioned that Nepal's initial participation in this plan was directly involved by the military and twice launched an application, and the United States has been urging the country to promote the legislative process as soon as possible after approving Nepal's accession in 2019.

However, due to the serious resistance to the plan at home, the Nepalese government has not yet signed a relevant agreement with the United States, and the opposition in the parliament is endless. On the 9th of this month, charles Flynn, commander of the U.S. Pacific Army, met with Nepalese Prime Minister Deupa, Army Chief of Staff Sharma and other senior officials, the main purpose of which was to urge the Nepalese authorities to quickly implement the SPP agreement; At the time, it was reported that if the two sides reached an agreement, the agreement would be signed during Deupa's visit to the United States in July.

The news immediately sparked an earthquake in Nepalese politics: the ruling Congress immediately warned Deupa not to sign any military agreement or to issue any assurances to the United States about it; Other ruling coalitions have also repeatedly warned that they cannot sign the agreement. Opposition parties also support the ruling party's position, arguing that "the agreement will plunge Nepal into geopolitical conflict, which is unacceptable and nepal is unlikely to join any military alliance".

Faced with such pressure, Nepal's cabinet finally made a compromise: stop advancing the agreement and notify the United States; In addition, the Nepalese government criticized the country's military's direct contact with the United States as "not good for the country" and demanded that all future foreign contacts must go through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Previously, in February, Nepal's parliament approved the signing of the Millennium Challenge Plan with the United States. Under the plan, the U.S. government will "aid" $500 million in Infrastructure in Nepal, but the plan has also sparked unrest at home for fear of being kidnapped into U.S. military alliances.

The Nepalese government was then forced to submit a statement stressing that the Nepalese government would not become a military ally of the United States and would not join the "Indo-Pacific Strategy" and that Nepal's constitution was above the agreement; But doubts have been expressed about how effective the statement will be.

Sure enough, the United States did not have a good heart, and after this agreement began to exert pressure to try to force Nepal to sign the SPP agreement, the purpose of which was to turn the country into a bridgehead attached to the border of China's Tibet and try to create new unrest in China's Tibet region. Fortunately, Nepal's major political parties have remained sober, aware of the consequences of this, and forced the cabinet government to cancel the agreement and cut off the idea of the United States.

In fact, when the Nepal earthquake occurred in 2015, the United States ignored Nepal at that time, and India even fell into the well, only China helped; Nepal was so impressed by this that it has since found ways to get out of India's control and gradually move closer to China.

The same is true of this agreement, nepalese political circles are very clear about one thing: American things are not cheap and easy to get, India is not a good thing, if you offend China, then once something really calls every day should not work, call the ground is not working, no matter what, we must block this military cooperation agreement, resolutely can not get on the US thief ship.

(Nepal refuses to become a geopolitical tool of the United States.)

This decision of the Nepalese government proves once again that the United States has become increasingly unpopular in provoking contradictions between regional countries and creating geopolitical conflicts in order to seize geopolitical interests; The US attempt to contain China is bound to be unattainable.
