When the relevant personnel arrived at the scene, they found that the local jackfruit was expected to be about 30% or (about 600 rais), and then the staff carried out further field investigations to find ways to help the growers solve their problems.
According to the 62-year-old fruit farmer Suko, he has been growing jackfruit for 3 years, planting about 10 rais, about 300 trees, and is now about to usher in the first harvest of the year. But now jackfruit prices have fallen unprecedentedly, with a purchase price of 1-2 baht/kg, coupled with the storm that caused jackfruit losses of nearly half. He said the situation was very difficult and that if the subsequent losses did not improve, he would find a way to grow other crops.
Another grower, also affected by the storm and low prices, said she did not know what to do at the moment, but could only continue to wait and see if the price of jackfruit would improve, and if not, she would switch to planting other crops to replace jackfruit like the above-mentioned growers.
