Zhang Tingyu was a famous minister of the Qing Dynasty, after three generations of emperors of the Qing Dynasty, he was in a high position during the Yongzheng and Qianlong periods, and was also called "close friend of love" by Yongzheng, and Yongzheng also gave him the highest honor of the Taimiao Temple before his death, which shows the high status of Zhang Tingyu at that time.
However, in Zhang Tingyu's later years, it was different, it was not as brilliant as before, and even the family was raided, and those around him were also scattered and scattered, living up to the previous status of the Zhang family.
However, Zhang Tingyu's son was very contentious, and he was a high-ranking official, and the Zhang family temporarily returned to its former glory.
Zhang Tingyu's life
Zhang Tingyu was a native of Tongcheng, Anhui, kangxi was born in the eleventh year of The Capital Division, qianlong died of illness in Tongcheng in the twentieth year, at the age of eighty-four. In his lifetime, he experienced Kangxi, Yongzheng and Qianlong, the three greatest emperors of the Qing Dynasty, and naturally had his deeds.
Zhang Tingyu's origin is very good, his father is a university scholar Zhang Ying, he is Zhang Ying's second son, the good family environment on Zhang Tingyu's influence is very huge, only 11-year-old Zhang Tingyu followed his father to participate in various poetry meetings, thus getting to know his father Zhang Ying's circle of friends, expanding his horizons.
In the 35th year of the Kangxi Dynasty, Zhang Tingyu went to Beijing to catch the examination, arrived in beijing in 36, and then prepared for the examination, but did not expect that his father was appointed as the chief examiner in that year, according to the law of the time, Zhang Tingyu needed to avoid the examination and stay until 3 years later. And it was precisely in this way that Kangxi knew the name of Zhang Ying's son Zhang Tingyu for the first time, which was also considered to be in and out of the emperor's eyes.
Zhang Tingyu, who had a smooth life, encountered the first twist and turn in his life, but this was not a bad thing, but it made Zhang Tingyu more diligent and inquisitive, at the end of the three-year period, Zhang Tingyu took the examination again, and then the third rank of the temple examination was awarded shujishi, and Zhang Tingyu began to enter the career.
During the Kangxi Period, Zhang Tingyu had little opportunity to hold important positions because of his father's high status, and finally only held the position of Rebbe Shangshu, until 1723, when Yongzheng ascended the throne, Zhang Tingyu also began the greatest achievement of his life.
At that time, Yongzheng had just ascended the throne and appointed Zhang Tingyu as a taifu to guide the third son of the emperor, the fourth son of the emperor, and the fifth son of the emperor to study, and soon after he was given the title of Fengpin and awarded the title of Guanglu Doctor, and in the same year he began to serve as a matter of imperial examination, and he also had the inscription of the Yongzheng Emperor himself, and he was also in charge of the Hanlin Academy, and served as a living official. It should be known that the position of Living Official is closely related to the life of the emperor, which can also be seen from Yongzheng's trust in Zhang Tingyu.
Another reason why Zhang Tingyu can be valued by Yongzheng is that Zhang Ying once taught Yongzheng, who is still a prince, and Zhang Tingyu, as Zhang Ying's son, of course trusts him, and Zhang Tingyu also works hard for Yongzheng all his life.
Zhang Tingyu in his later years
As the elder of the Three Dynasties, Zhang Tingyu's status was very high, but in his later years, he was not satisfied. When Qianlong had just ascended the throne, Zhang Tingyu did not only do things and talk less during the Yongzheng period, but relied on his status as the elder of the Three Dynasties to directly face Qianlong many times to raise objections, and Zhang Tingyu presided over the affairs of the imperial examination many times, there were many protégés, and many people in the imperial court also stood in his party, which made the current emperor Qianlong very uneasy, which also heralded Zhang Tingyu's sad end.
In the 14th year of Qianlong, Zhang Tingyu told Qianlong to retire from illness, but Qianlong did not directly agree, but sent a will to Zhang Tingyu, asking him to choose whether to retire or not to retire. Of course, Zhang Tingyu agreed without any hesitation, after all, Zhang Tingyu's health was already very poor at that time, no one supported him or even could not walk normally, Qianlong also gladly agreed, and gave Zhang Tingyu many rewards, but he did not expect that Zhang Tingyu also went to ask Qianlong whether he could enjoy the Taimiao Temple after his death, so Qianlong had to issue an edict and write a poem for him.
"Make a knee and beg for a word, move to be compassionate and move to be sad." The former emperor decreed that he would only admire this, and go to the country to be blessed or passed. Examples can be given to the Qingtianyuan You Temple, and the monument destroyed by Zheng Guojing. I am not Yao Shun who Gao Qi, Khan Jian commented and listened to Yi. ”
However, wanwan did not expect that in the face of the emperor's gift, Zhang Tingyu did not personally go to Xie'en, but only sent one of his own sons forward, which also greatly angered Qianlong.
So soon Qianlong held Zhang Tingyu accountable, but before the edict could be issued, Zhang Tingyu came to Qianlong, as an emperor, his own power was the most important, and now his will had not yet been issued Zhang Tingyu knew, proving that his party must be very powerful in the DPRK, so Qianlong was even more angry, scolded Zhang Tingyu, and stripped him of his title.
Finally, he gathered his courtiers and stripped Zhang Tingyu of the treatment he had given him to enjoying the Taimiao Temple, and let him retire and return to his hometown in a daze, and Zhang Tingyu also fell and scattered on this tree.
Even so, Qianlong still did not completely spare Zhang Tingyu, and used the excuse of recovering the reward to raid the Zhang family, wanting to see if Zhang Tingyu had formed a party for personal gain, fortunately, no evidence was found, and all this was a great insult to Zhang Tingyu. Since then, Zhang Tingyu has not gone out until Qianlong died of illness in his hometown in 22 years.
Zhang Tingyu's zhang family after his death
Zhang Tingyu had a total of 7 sons in his lifetime, and only 4 of them grew up, namely Zhang Ruoyun, Zhang Ruoyi, Zhang Ruocheng, and Zhang Ruoshu.
His four sons were also very contentious, except for Zhang Ruozhuo, who was a Gongsheng, the other three were all from jinshi, and the Zhang family was a famous and prestigious family at that time.
Zhang Tingyu's eldest son, Zhang Ruoyu, was actually a jinshi in Zhang Tingyu's most favored examination, so his career benefited from his father's steady rise, although there was not much merit, but he also did not make any mistakes, and the highest achieved the imperial history of the left capital of the Metropolitan Inspection Yuan, and the official residence was from Yipin. It should be said that his greatest achievement is to compile the famous "Four Libraries Complete Book" together with Ji Xiaolan and others.
Zhang Ruoyi was the most talented person in the Zhang family, very capable in literature and political affairs, and Qianlong did not reject him because he hated Zhang Tingyu. If it were not for his unexpected and untimely death, he might even have become a university scholar, and it should be known that the position of university scholar was the greatest honor of being a civil servant at that time.
Zhang Ruocheng's career was also very smooth, and the official to the cabinet scholar concurrently served as a ceremonial attendant, for the second product. And he was highly accomplished in calligraphy and painting, and was praised by Qianlong many times, and was a famous court painter at that time.
The fourth son, Zhang Ruozhuo, was the one who could not read among all of Zhang Tingyu's sons, but his official position was the highest among these people, and Zhang Ruozhuo knew a lot about human feelings, just like the hezhen who was in the official field, no matter what kind of people could talk to him, and finally he also served as a soldier Shangshu, for Congyi Pin. The Jiaqing Emperor also ordered him to be posthumously awarded him the title of Crown Prince Taibao.
It can be said that his four sons are all high-ranking officials and extremely contentious.
Zhang Tingyu, as the elder of the Three Dynasties, should have retired with dignity, but in the end he was demoted to a knighthood because of arrogance, and he was almost raided, and after his death, Qianlong did not violate Yongzheng's will, but still let him have the right to enjoy the Temple, and he was the only Hanchen who was worthy of the Temple.
