Recently, 17 century-old lychees in Shajiao Village, Lannuo Town, began to be listed in batches, and the harvest is expected to be more than 3,000 catties. It is understood that these 17 lychee ancient trees have been 117 years old this year, all of which are concubine laughing varieties and have been included in the list of ancient trees in Guangzhou for protection.
At the picking site, the ancient branches are hung with fiery red fruits, and the pickers wear seat belts and work among the towering branches, and the strings of lychees with leaves fall into the bamboo baskets hanging on the trees next to them.
"This year is a 'small year' of lychee, the output is lower than in previous years, it is expected to be more than 3,000 catties, and the price correspondence has also risen, the price per catty is about 40 yuan, but this has not affected the enthusiasm of customers." According to the staff, many customers in previous years will book in advance, and sometimes the lychees of the day are sold out before they are planted.
"A century-old tree, this price is worth the money, last year did not taste, this year specially came to try it, the taste is delicate, sweet and juicy, bought to give family and friends to taste." Mr. Liu, who bought 20 kilograms of lychees, told reporters.
In addition to on-site purchase, Shajiao ancient tree lychee also opened an online purchase channel, customers through WeChat contact orders, workers will be freshly picked lychee pruning leaves, sealed and packed, so as to book in advance, taste early, stay at home can also taste the taste of Shajiao lychee. According to reports, orders are mostly local customers, but there are also orders from Beijing, Shanghai and other cities.
It is reported that the harvesting period of ancient lychee trees in Shajiao Village is expected to be until June 23, and neighbors can go to Shajiao Village to watch the 100-year-old lychee tree picking scene and taste the freshest and most authentic 100-year-old lychee concubine smile.
