Hydroponic sweet potato seedlings
I raise hydroponic sweet potato seedlings every year. Usually before the winter solstice, choose a well-rounded sweet potato from the ordinary sweet potato bought and eaten in the market, and put it on a canned bottle filled with water, and the sweet potato is the best if it is just enough to reach the water. Placed in the kitchen, a week the sweet potato grows roots and whiskers, and in a few days, it emits young buds, a little long leaves, stretching out the stems, and gradually flourishing, green and verdant. The canned bottle is full of root whiskers, and that whisker is also full of life. In the coldest season, looking at this bottle of melon seedlings, I feel joy. Moreover, the stems and leaves are blanched in water and sautéed very tasty.
But last winter I didn't raise any seedlings. The first sweet potato soaked in water for half a month did not produce roots or buds, so I changed my ways, buried in the sand, still did not move, and finally became a bad sweet potato in a hard state. The second one grew a root whisker, that is, it did not produce leaf buds, and finally the first half was cut off. The third one also failed, and I threw away the canned bottle together, secretly determined not to get it again. That's how it came to Lichun. One morning I saw an old lady selling a basket of sweet potatoes, one of which had small purple buds. I quickly bought it, went home and put it on the water. It took more than ten days to grow roots, and it took more than half a month to see that the buds had grown a little. It's finally growing! Unfortunately, there is no glass can bottle, this plastic cup mouth is wide, in order not to let the sweet potato fall in, use the plastic cup to cut off half and put it at the mouth of the cup. It is not very transparent, or the glassware can reveal the roots to look better.
Why can't sweet potatoes sprout? The person who sells sweet potatoes says that the temperature is low, which is not true, because the temperature in my house is higher than usual. Some people say that sweet potatoes are genetically modified, which is possible; others say that sweet potatoes have been processed and may be sprayed to prevent germination. In the end, I bought the old lady's own leftovers, which were not processed.
