The Lost Ark will welcome the first Legion Raid and more modern costumes this month

The fashion-forward South Korean MMO Lost Ark is notorious for its legion raids and endgame campaigns, where teams of players must work together through complex multi-stage boss battles. The April roadmap suggests "tentatively" the release of the first Legion Raid in May against the demon commander Valtan, and Amazon Games has now confirmed.

"Because Legion Raids are challenging and take time," Amazon writes, "there are gates (or checkpoints) that can save players' progress as they advance the raid." Valtan is an eight-man army raid with 2 gates and the introduction of a large number of new mechanics. Players need to reach level 1415 to try normal difficulty, and level 1445 to try difficulty. ”

The Valtan Raid also introduced a new rarity level. Crafting materials obtained during raids can be turned into relic equipment, which includes accessories with more carved nodes. This may not sound very influential, but in Korea it has changed the viable construction of some advanced courses. For example, DPS Paladin builds rely on relic equipment.

The May update will also add more skins, which players have been calling for. (The Lost Ark is a rare MMO that feels like it should sell more cosmetics.) In addition to adding stores on a regular basis, a limited-time store called Neria's Wardrobe will offer some more modern apparel items, including t-shirts, jeans and bounce caps. Here are some modern and stylish trailers released in South Korea.

The thing I'm most excited about is hidden in the "Quality of Life Update" section: front-and-back attack metrics. Lines that accurately indicate where the boss's relevant part of the collision box starts and ends are helpful for both the landing counter (which must be aimed forward) and the skill that deals more damage to the enemy's head or buttocks. It may seem like a trivial matter, but for guardians like the evil tree Levanos and other blobby bosses, the face can be surprisingly unclear. I'd love to see the exact hit rings added to the player next.

Other quality of life changes in this update include "the ability to check daily and weekly content engagement in the new menu, UI updates, improved party finders and party invitations, updated loot teardowns, convenience features in the marketplace/auction house, and some fun features such as the ability to randomly summon favorite mounts and new hairstyles for customization!" The menu for tracking all the daily and weekly content in The Lost Ark will be a godsend, so that's another nice addition.

The May update also brings the previously announced Destroyer Advanced Class and Deskaluda Guardian Raids, Challenge Guardian Raids, new guild events including PvP Island Siege, the recent addition of South Fern Continent and wild wings island and more. This is another strange event island, I guess you're fighting a big chicken? From the update: "In retaliation for eating their friends and family, Crispy Golden Chickings plans to raid the island. Players turn into chickens or beers to fight chicken bosses to get active coins. Okay.
